The town in the film, Sandusky, Ohio, is the real life home-town of writer and director Todd Stephens.
This film marked Linda Evans' first film role since "The Stepsister" (1997).
The film played at the IFC Center in New York City and was nominated for two Independent Spirit Awards (Best Male Lead for Kier and Best Original Screenplay for Stephens). While the award went to Maggie Gyllenhaal for The Lost Daughter, Stephens was nominated for this prestigious honor alongside other heavy hitters of indie cinema such as Mike Mills (C'mon, C'mon), Nikole Beckwith (Together Together), and Janicza Bravo (Zola).
One of two films released in 2021 entitled Swan Song, with the other one starring Mahershala Ali. The two films' plot lines share nothing in common.
