Despite the fact that the character of Hector got a rather unfunny run during the end credits of the film Blades of Glory, the DVD decided to give him even more time in this short film. Hector is a strange character and not one that I felt really fitted into the main film in any way that worked other than being a plot device. The reality of threatening or crazy fans was well exaggerated to comic effect in the one main scene he shared with Heder but beyond that I didn't think there was any material that worked with him.
Which is how I viewed this short film as well. Playing on the same one joke about Hector's obsession, this is him sitting atop of some steps at a ice skating arena, chatting about his affection for Jimmy and showing the various scrap books etc he has to his idol. It is only three minutes long and it is telling that I felt it had done everything it had in store within the first thirty seconds. Even this period is not that funny or clever and after that it just sort of repeats itself. Swardson is OK in the role and suitably creepy but the material is not behind him to deliver and as such this short film just ends up being an extension of a character and joke that had already been overused in the main film without having this as well.
