Fifth episode of "The Big Bang Theory" is another funny outing
tavm22 October 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Leonard, Sheldon, and their two friends are at Penny's restaurant playing a game that mixes Civil War generals with various sci-fi heroes. Penny tells them they have to order something or they'll get thrown out. Leslie, Leonard's lab partner, comes by and asks if he'll agree to play cello for her music group. He agrees. Once there, Leslie has to make obvious what her intentions are so Leonard doesn't get confused. Meanwhile, Sheldon asks Penny over to his place in order to get her to tell him what the tie on Leonard's door with music playing inside means. With Penny now knowing about Leonard and Leslie, Leonard makes his move on Leslie but she tells him she won't be available to him "until at least New Year's". So a relationship is over before it really began...Another funny episode of "The Big Bang Theory" with the welcome return of Sara Gilbert as Leslie. Many funny double-entendres abound. Most of the best lines, as usual, come from Sheldon. Glad to know this show is doing well for the CBS Monday lineup. Will post another review next week...

Leonard trying to figure out what Penny said was a fun part of the episode. But even better were the moments with Leslie Winkle. This includes her calling Leonard a beast as well as comparing her one night sex drive to rats in the lab. And Sheldon trying to figure out what the tie means as well as calling Leonard to tell him he got the message was really fun!

We start with an hilarious reconstruction of a Civil War battle using condiment bottles and other stuff at the Cheesecake Factory. We meet Leslie Winkle (Sara Gilbert) for the first time and she comes on to Sheldon. This sets up the episode when the two of them get together. I didn't realize that there was already some sexual tension between Leonard and Penny. Anyway, we have the big time scientist versus his basic feelings. The humor here comes from Sheldon getting in the middle of things.

In these early days of 'TBBT' it really was all about Sheldon, Leonard and Penny, with Raj and Howard barely getting a look in.

I don't actually mind that, it's quite fun to see the show in this form.

There's lots of lovely moments here, with some sharp lines and interplay.

Good fun overall.
