Exclusive: Chase Liefeld has joined the cast of Disney Studios’ high school basketball movie Chang Can Dunk which is intended for debut on Disney+.
The Yorba Linda, CA native will play Matt, the high school’s star basketball player, who becomes an obsession of 16-year old Chang, who we told you Bloom Li is set to play. Chang is a constantly marginalized, not-popular kid who wants to learn how to dunk so bad, he wants to best Matt at his game and win the adoration of Kristy.
Jingyi Shao is writing and directing the feature from Lena Waithe and Rishi Rajani’s Hillman Grad Productions. They’re producing with Brad Weston and Negin Salmasi.
Liefeld’s credits include the indie feature Honor Student from director Tamika Miller and the YouTube series Sunnyside Up. He is repped by Robert Stein Management and Gersh.

Exclusive: In Contempt alum Christian Keyes is set as a series regular in At That Age, NBC’s ensemble drama pilot from Carla Banks-Waddles, Malcolm D. Lee, Debra Martin Chase and Universal Television. Written by Banks-Waddles, At That Age is an exploration of an African-American family’s legacy. After the Cooper family’s golden child suffers a catastrophic event, seven family members face a foundational shift, make life-altering decisions and deal with deep secrets coming to light. Keyes will play Jabari Patterson, Samantha’s younger brother. Keyes was the lead in Bet’s courtroom drama In Contempt and played significant recurring characters on Fox’s 9-1-1 and Amazon’s The Boys. He can next be seen on the upcoming seasons of Bounce TV’s Saints and Sinners and Bet’s The Family Business. He is repped by TCA Mgmt and Macro Management.

Brat TV has unveiled its winter slate, with the Gen Z-focused digital network debuting two new series including Sunnsyide Up, a comedy starring Nia Sioux. The new series, along with the Season 2 return of Crown Lake, hit the service this week.
Sunnyside Up stars Sioux about four households and their teens on the same cul-de-sac. Kaycee Rice and Nina Lu (Bunk’d) co-star. It is joined in the lineup by Crazy Fast, which charts the rise of a new high school track and field team. Kamri Noel and Andrew Swilley star.
Crown Lake, which debuted this summer and is produced by Pretty Little Liars alum Sara Shepard, stars Francesca Capaldi (Dog With a Blog) and Kyla-Drew.
