"Breath of Courage" was originally going to be a musical. Peter Anthony Fields (lyrics) and Jamal Dillman-Hasso (music) wrote ten original songs for the film. But, due to various technical problems at the recording studio, limited rehearsal time, and a rapidly approaching shooting schedule, all the songs were eliminated (with the exception of one, "Love Will See You Through", which now plays over the end credits). The weekend before shooting was to begin, director Fields and screenwriter Evonne Fields-Gould, rewrote all the scenes in which songs were featured so that the dialogue would reflect what was originally written lyrically.
During pre-production, four actors had to step out of the production due to scheduling conflicts. They were replaced by 'Katrina Melanie Walker', Scott Pyle, and just days before shooting was to begin, 'Bruce Jennings' and Sapphire DeFranco.
