Great content
jeastham-2876730 November 2022
As a native Texan who has worked cutting horses and cows I really enjoy the content. However, cowboys are supposed to be honorable men or women. There is way to much hot shoting (back stabbing) to suit me. I want to see honorable folks win. Make sure the competition is about ability, endurance, and character. To many contestants are scheming how to eliminate other competitors rather than on the qualities I mentioned above. I would also do more informational cuts on cow types and disposition. Would also like to see some cuts on horse type, care, and ownership requirements. Cowboying is a beautiful thing, and good people know that, try and keep it that way. Happy Trails.

Need More

You can tell this is the first season of a show by so e of the production, but that doesn't take away from the product. This is a great show! It's fun to watch even if you don't know much or anything about ranch work. Can't wait for this show to grow! Loved it!

Great concept

Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed the show. I'm a 70 year old housewife who has never been on a horse farm or even attended a rodeo but I really enjoyed watching the skills competitions from the participants. I know a lot more than I did about what it it takes to be a top-notch cowboy. I believe the correct Ultimate Cowboy was Zane. For most of the series I thought Ethan would win because of his leadership and knowledge, but I think his arrogance got him in the end. Besides the riding and competitions they had to do, I enjoyed the cowboys backstories. I hope the show gets picked up for a second season.

Interesting show, but with problems.

Warning: Spoilers
I've ridden all my life, worked around cattle and enjoy watching the show but am finding fault with parts of it. Contestant selection: The FIRST thing a "cowboy" (or cowgirl) needs to be able to do is mount a horse. It was embarrassing for everyone, seeing a contestant struggling so hard with that most basic riding element. It had to make a lot of viewers wonder how-in-the-world are people selected in the show? The challenge of grabbing a tag off a bull's head was just stupid. Putting contestants in a position that dangerous showed pretty poor judgement on the part of the producers. Host Trace Adkins has the look, the stature and the voice and he's 100% serious. But all that seriousness does take away from the show being "fun." I keep saying to the TV, "Hey Trace, lighten up a little." At one elimination, Trace asked J Storme several times who she would eliminate and really pushed hard for an answer putting her in a very awkward and uncomfortable position. It just seemed unnecessary and made Trace look like a bully. I don't think viewers will like the idea that one man makes the decision as to who goes home and who wins. It's an interesting show and for the first go-round not bad. Hopefully if it's picked up for a second season, some of the bugs will be worked out. I hope so.

Trace Adkins is the Ultimate Bore
docm-3230412 August 2022
I thought this show would be interesting as we live in the heart of cow and horse country and was hoping it would contain less of the "un"-reality show nonsense common to the genre. Unfortunately, there was more drama than action and the host, seemed totally disinterested in being there. Trace Adkins' performance as a host would cure any insomniac. He would stand there looking bored and talking in such a slow disinterested drawl that you'd think he was being forced to be there. The show had a totally scripted feel to it and some of the horsemanship was truly terrible.

Needs to showcase more honorable people

Love the concept and the inspiration behind showing how hard the life is!!! Discouraging to watch the cut throat conniving and scheming. Would rather see them progress on merit than through squabbles!!! Would enjoy seeing more about breeds and different seasons. Throwing a challenge should have immediate consequences! I love the scenery and the atmosphere of ranching. I would like to see the birthing / feeding / herd maintaining .... It would be nice to see more camaraderie. I would love to see a follow up on who wins and how they used this life changing opportunity. Cowboy means courage/ honor/ respect / grit/ determination/ no quit attitude.

MAKE IT MORE REAL COWBOY LESS STAGED!!
tessa-297481 June 2023
After watching a couple seasons, I have come to a conclusion that the "ultimate cowboy" needs to be more cowboy, less like ranch rodeos. I have seen countless times really great and TRUE cowboys being sent home over ridiculous conclusions. I find this show completely unfair, left in the hands to judge from people that have never truly cowboyed to pay for your next meal. I would like to see this show live up to its actual name, and promote true cowboys talents and ways of life. It's very disappointing and I personally feel it's discouraging and not promoting the true cowboy way of life. People need to see the honest cowboy way, not the weekend warrior way.

How to be the least cowboy you can be

Warning: Spoilers
Thought the idea was great. The first season wasn't horrible, but after that they clearly wanted to turn this in to "redneck housewives", promoting drama, division and undignified attitudes.

The moment I could no longer watch ch from was when on cowboy took responsibility for his decision and Trace told him he was never allowed to talk like that again or he would be gone.

Really? Telling a cowboy being humble and responsible was the worst thing he could do? Is clear they weren't looking for cowboys but drama queens. It's sad to see Trace encouraging pathetic petty squabbles and back biting. Encouraging contestants to not take any responsibility and "rewarding" some for being petty, and dishonorable people.
