A dark, but rewarding story.

An Art Gallery owner is killed, and artist who's work he's shunned is prime suspect, Rebus's bad attitude lands him on a Behavioural rehabilitation course.

It's a very sombre affair it's fair to say, it's more seedy and violent than any other episode of the show that I can remember, this story really does get under the skin. Very dark content, but the criminals are so bad, that yours itching for them to be taken down.

Plenty going on to keep you entertained and intrigued, there is a real depth and intensity to this story, Stott as always is commanding on the role.

Jon Morrison and Dave Anderson were both terrific as the wayward Detectives, two of the best criminals I've seen on the show, they really are a pair of monsters. Stella Honey as always is first rate. Always great to see Jon Morrison in a role outside of Vera, instantly recognisable with his dour manner.

It's a smashing book, it translates well here, excellent, 9/10.

Warning: Spoilers
Art gallery owner Eddie Marber is found dead at Calton Hill.

Although Rebus is the investigating officer, he throws a sudden temper tantrum in front of DCS Gill Templer.

Rebus is sent to a training rehabilitation course where he befriends two other police officers who have been sent there because of their attitude to the job.

DS Clarke takes over the Marber case in Rebus's absence. However pretty soon both Clarke's and Rebus's paths cross in a brothel that gets raided by the police.

Somewhere here was a good episode. However too often the writing and the direction let it down.

It was obvious that Rebus is undercover to smoke out the two bent officers. Both of them seem to trust Rebus all too readily with their plans.

Regarding the house fire, given Rebus rang the fire brigade almost immediately, the fire engines took its merry old time to arrive.

Given two kids died in the fire and it was all over the news media, Rebus seems to be the last to know as to what happened. Was he in the pub the all day?

There were just too many petty flaws in this story.

Disgusting exploitation of child deaths

Watched all prior episodes, this one ruining the experience. You do not kill children to advance a weak plot. Made me sick.
