Only reason I am writing this review is to shine some light on this nice little series. Unique and interesting for all the 8 episodes. What more can we ask for. Props to Netflix for bringing in unique shows around the world

What the hell are they doing in Heavens again ?
magguilmot28 December 2019
We've seen new shows where Heaven and Hell' spawns were slobs, like one of us. So why one more ? Because it's fun !
the 3% had a Brazillian feeling about it but it was dark. This one is light. It makes you smile. It's a feel-gooood series. We need those, badly. It's pretty hard to write good comedies. Better write a blockbuster on a post-it and pack it with action to become famous.
But, let's say it : we enjoy nice things. If absurd makes you laugh and you despise cruel jokes, this one is defenitely worth a try.

No idea what will happen next!

It's not often a show comes along where you have absolutely no idea where it's going or what might happen next.
Quirky, witty, almost cartoonish but full of existential depth.
Think The Good Place mixed with Brazil mixed with a demented Wings of Desire.
And punishment for breaking the rules? "Watching Nicolas Cage in City of Angels endlessly for all eternity!"

Non sequitur comedy!! Where's season two?

The first episode is engaging, showing a public sector outfit, full of manuals and stamps, of ginger angels, receiving the "order of the day". From this setting up to the last minute "Nobody's looking" is a complete set of jokes, pokers, and fun about our prejudices, bureaucracy, luck and the asking the right questions.
I loved the series, fast and funny, and can't wait to watch the second season. Spot on, Netflix, you nailed it!!

This has a lot going for it, but sometimes it gets into contrivances that don't make sense and aren't funny.

At other times, the writing can be on the inspired side. The dialog is basic and lame pretty often, though. There's reductive stereotyping, too, such as depicting a defensive vegan who can't cook nice food also being thoroughly into astrology.
One other annoyance is that once again, animals get used for what are supposed to be humorous purposes, so they get hurt and scared. Injured and frightened animals aren't amusing, FFS!

Loved every second of it

This has been one of the cleverest and most engaging series I've had the pleasure to watch in years. I have a pretty demanding sense of humor, so the fact that this series makes me laugh out loud frequently and has me smiling almost throughout the whole thing is impressive to me. The acting and the cinematography are overall excellent, and the plot is quite original, with lots of witty commentary on the human experience and the strange ways humans organize themselves and act. It also has genuine drama (that is, it doesn't feel artificial or contrived) and many unexpected plot twists that will keep you guessing, and which make this a very engaging watch. Along with Sex Education, it's the only other series I'm looking forward to the next season with bated breath!
To put icing on the cake, the English subtitles are absolutely top notch and convey the seemingly untranslatable jokes from Portuguese into English seamlessly (I watched it in Portuguese with English subtitles on for amusement). Props to the translator(s)!
Please do yourself a favor and give this quirky series a chance! If you're not hooked in by the first episode, then it's probably not for you.

A short (cancelled) Brazilian series following Uli, the Chief's newest Angelus created to watch over human beings and protecting them from harm. Is quite funny and I thought the premise was very cute and well done. The acting and scripting was pretty good, it felt like a very simple and self contained show that I would have watched longer than it ran, I'm sad it was cancelled. But like the show says, the world isn't random by chance. Would recommend.
I need more! :)

Fun Idea Gone Wrong

I liked the concept very much. Too bad the acting, or rather over-acting, is deplorable. I don't know, maybe it's supposed to be a farce. I never did understand farce. I only got as far as partway through the 6th episode, because the whistling became unbearable. Seriously, what was that about?
Original concept and characterization.

I stumbled onto it by chance. Normally, I don't go for foreign shows. However, i had to make an exception because i loved this from the very first episode. As the headline suggests, it has a brilliant concept. It's surprising no one has ever done a show like this considering the current media fascination with supernatural and science fiction genres. My only hope is that netflix doesn't follow the current running theme of cancelling a show before it gets an established fan base. Netflix needs to consider that when something on a tv network like the CW or HBO gets popular...its because people were clicking through and found it by chance and decided to watch it or they saw a commercial promoting it. With streaming services, these gems are found by random luck. With so many options, especially so many that are so similar, it is hard to make a decision. Most netflix originals don't stick out to me, but this one did. It is a fresh concept with a good cast and plotline. The writing seems off, but im also watching it in English, which is not the language it was created in. That is completely forgivable because of the creativity used in the show along with the casting choices. This is not American made, so it may take time to become established all over. If netflix gives it the opportunity of a few seasons I think they could be looking at a new hit. I have never seen anything quite like it, i binged the eight episodes in two nights. I would be excited to see more with even more episodes or longer episodes in a season.

Everyone should be looking at this show

Fantastic cast, great production quality yet feels a bit lacking in overall story department. Uli Greta and Chun make a great trio together complimenting each other as characters. Definitely a Netflix must watch show if you watch the subbed version because the English dub is abysmal.
Excellent!!

I am so gutted Season 2 cancelled
cassykerr5 December 2020
I also just signed up for just so I could rate the show and post that Season 2 (and more!!) needs to be made. I literally binge watched all 8 episodes - I think they didn't give the series enough time and exposure before deciding to cancel!
I'm giving

An 8 because the overall rating needa to be higher. I use to watch a lot of International films but mu eye sight makes reading subtitles a pain now . Since I hat dubbing I usually turn off any foreign stuff now but this was fantastic! If I hadn't watched the trailer I'd of never known. This is brilliant and so true. It's funny but not LMAO funny but more profound. I did crack up when his costume was " Nicholas Cage " at the party. A good story about questioning things and that things aren't always what they seem or as they are and that's up to you ( well sometimes).
This one snuck up on me...

Original and fun

The script is original, light and fun.
We were looking for something light and pleasant to watch and by chance we found this one. What a good surprise!
Fast paced and funny scenes, with a touch of questioning, just enough to trigger a thought...
I do hope Netflix to continue with seasons 2, 3....
Highly recommended.

I really love Nobody's Looking. I just binge watched the whole of season 1 in just a couple days(normally I try to do 1 episode a day, not 4). I was pleasantly surprised throughout the show and the season 1 finale was definitely not what I thought it was going to be. Can't wait for future seasons of this great show.
