It is not quiet Death in Paradise or Magnum.
Philippines does serve as an unusual and exotic setting for this action drama.
Christian Kane is former DEA Agent Alex Walker who has had to leave on health grounds. Suffering from high blood pressure he needs to monitor his heart rate.
His heart which could burst if his heartbeat gets too high.
Therefore he has retired to a small gift shop and apartment he purchased in an island resort. Only to find out that the property is delipidated and subsumed by a giant luxury hotel development.
While he renovates the property. Walker spots a drug bust that is about to go wrong and ends up working reluctantly for the local police.
The first episode sees Walker partnered up with Detectives Alamares and Mendoza. They go after a drug gang who have arrived in Philippines to export a synthetic drug to the USA.
Walker goes undercover to partner up with the drug gang. Hot on his heels is an ex DEA colleague who dislikes Walker.
There is the right amount of action and some comedy in the opener. The paradise island setting does bring to mind the Hawaiian set Magnum.
Walker quickly establishes a chemistry with his new police partners.
The antagonism between his ex colleague is lame. The constant heart monitoring is a gimmick that could get old quickly.
