The healing power of narrative
TBJCSKCNRRQTreviews15 August 2010
This is the only featurette on the DVD of Shooter that is up here on IMDb. It consists of interviews with the cast(well, three of the leads) and crew(and the author of the book, who comes off smart and has a lot to say), behind the scenes footage and clips of the film. This is concise and has plenty of information. They talk about sniping and getting as many of the details right as possible, and does a great job of explaining the factors that play into setting up shots(with scope and rifle, not camera), and the military technical adviser is extremely interesting to listen to... he points to one thing that they couldn't get entirely accurate, simply because it would be too gruesome. It goes into the characters, and Wahlberg mentions that that was the main reason he took the role. And they really were out on that glacier! I'm glad they say so here, because that portion is so visually stunning that it's well worth noting that it didn't come out of a computer, but is actual nature. This is well-edited, and keeps your attention throughout. The documentary does spoil parts of the movie, it's best to watch this after you've seen it. There is a little disturbing content in this. I recommend this to anyone who likes and wants to know more about the subject. 7/10
