So this was an odd one out. The episode mainly lays off the ground work for future relationships and disputes, so much leads as to how a character may develop or where the story might go. Some might hate it for not being enough gory or action filled mashup but I think these episodes are much important to be there so that audience can connect to the main characters and feel for them in their goods and bads.

The episode in a whole was more for character building. Also the conflict Becca faces gives the show some weight. I think it was a well-acted episode. But now I'm ready for some action in future episodes. I hope we learn more about Stormfront...

I am watching and enjoying the heck out of this show because it is so much different than your typical superhero show. People complaining that this episode is slow and boring...then don't watch this, go back to all other superhero flicks, with mindless non-stop action and cardboard villains...
I just loved this episode, so much more than the previous one that got such a high ranking (tbh I didn't understand why). To people who found this a filler or a slow burner, this is called build-up and good writing, something you probably never heard about.
Homelander does not cease to surprise me, damn he must be one the most fascinating characters I have ever seen in a movie or tv series. This is what I call a true antagonist, I am uncomfortable and on edge every time he is on screen, he's creepy and scary, like a time bomb, you never know when he might snap. And the actor is pure gold. And Stormfront herself gets more and more interesting. Keep up the good work, writers and producers!

The tension is cranked up to 1000% this episode with Homelander teetering on the edge of insanity, could easily end up on a killing spree. it feels now as if anybody could be killed keeping me on the edge of my seat for the entire episode and begging for the next episode.

This epsiode is a very character driven and slows down the plot. I think this is necessary because I have a feeling things are gonna get a lot crazier and bigger so this was an important episode to prepare us for the final 4 of the season.
The entire cast is so great in this show idk how amazon prime got so lucky with a group like this!

If last episode was what the plot was leading up to, this episode was sort of like what the characters were leading up to. Becca and butcher finally meet up again. They meet 3 times this episode which is different every time. First time meeting, was a sweet reunion for these two people that love each other. Second time was still sweet, but there was more discussion about the supe son and how to work around that. The third time however, is when they both leave this fantasy world and get to grips with reality: there is no real escape from home lander. Speaking of which, his scenes with doppelganger constantly blurred the line between hilarious and cringey. He is certainly one messed up psycho and that is very clear here. Similar to becca and butcher, starlight and hughie seem to also try and live in this fantasy world when they can be together only to be grounded by the reality of the situation.

This episode was highly enjoyable for active fans of The Boys, ones who watch the show for more than the displays of gore, violence and out right diabolical scenes. The episode entails a series of relationship based dramas and disputes, highlighting the direction certain characters are going in. The episode was intense, tension only built as it moved onward, yet I imagine viewers will be torn as some may see this episode as disappointing, far from the usual and more romantic driven, than action.
Homelander's character progression in this episode slowly drifting towards losing it all, his focal figure as the head of The Seven, his reputation and own mental instability while displaying a tricolon of relationships was smart and captivating. As previously stated, the episode lacked its usual action and somewhat standard diabolic nature, yet we got insights to characters we have never gotten close to before.
Becca and Butcher's relationship was explored, Butcher finally got a taste of what he wanted, but with an unexpected and somewhat anticlimactic sad ending, it was all torn away from him. Annie and Hughie's relationship began to immerse on the road trip, where we also learnt more about Mother's Milk's background. Hughie got a (literal) taste of what he wanted, 'his second wind', yet it all came falling down as Annie explained how this is not something to get used to and will not happen again. The romantic motif of the episode, expressed in a tricolon of relationships, ended dramatically with Homelander, at the edge of his tether killing Doppleganger. We know Homelander to be a dark and deranged character, yet this is hidden by the persona he has to keep up for the public, for the fans he seems to want and need so much. The ending of this episode therefore is significant, it seems Homelander is at his breaking point, who knows what he is about to do next, will he regain some stability or wreak havoc? Secondly, the show ends with him proclaiming he does not need anyone as he murders Doppleganger, who at this time is taking the appearance of Homelander himself, in turn creating a scene where Homelander is 'killing himself.' This scene is particularly interesting and acted well and some could go as far as to say this is his final breaking point, if he can strangle himself to death, what is stopping him from doing it to anyone, or everyone else.
In my opinion these were the most significant events, we also got a small amount of progression with Frenchie and Kimiko's relationship, but in the long term I believe this is less significant than the three above.

Episode 4 follows our boys Hughie, Annie and Mother's Milk (I like that name) going after a Super called "Liberty", and here's a big reveal about her. Here we can dig a little in Highie and Annie's relationship, must say I enjoyed it. Stormfront and Homelander have their (first?) face to face encounter. I really want to see what's now to come between them both. Butcher goes after his, probably, only goal since the beginning... with not so much success. Really interesting episode, culminating with some bizarre content, I must say.

I loved how this episode focused on character relationships and backstory more so than the typical action (which is great). I felt that many characters took a step forward this episode in turns of their depth. Great episode.

A development episode, with 'new normals' for several characters, resetting the battle lines. Homelander's paranoia is driving him to be ever more erratic and violent without realising how vulnerable he is to manipulation. Stormfront, a master Machiavellian, controls him effortlessly without him understanding what is happening. We also learn more about her which perhaps explains the depth of her interpersonal skills.

After the high action of the previous episode this was always likely to be more meditative. The main upshot from Stormfront's upstaging of Homelander in the last instalment is that the latter now has some serious stock-taking to do . Is his position as leader secure? Is he a laughing stock? Is there anyone he can trust?
Such almost existential questioning for a personality who's unstable at the best of times is intriguing not least for the potentially explosive implications of the answers that may be arrived at.
In addition there's a little mystery to be solved involving Stormfront, which together with the above makes this episode all about the issue of identity & shaking off or shattering pretences.
So far, so good. Thematically it wass sound. Unfortunately the episode itself seemed to drag & while one can't always expect moment to moment action scenes all the time the lack of such scenes over the course of well over an hour continues to make me wonder why the producers couldn't have pared down the show. Personally, I believe, this show would be far better broken down into in 40 minutes episodes.

I liked the new approach this episode took and how it was not really about advancing the plot forward (though I am curious to see where it goes with certain stuff) and it was more about the characters and their future relationships and obstacles they're gonna have to face during the rest of the season. It's a neat little episode and I'm glad the boys did something like this to prepare us. Though that last scene was weird asf in my opinion

I'm only now realising that a Homelander on Homelander sex scene is Everything that I want in my life! So delicious!
A much slower paced episode but there's still plenty to love in here. The humour worked well for the most part. Enjoyable watch for me.
