I will not be showing this to my kids if I have any, it has lots of sass and slightly suggestive jokes. But if you don't mind that stuff, I can see it being super cool to a girl from 7-10 ish.
For the nastolgia affect, it's pretty much how I remember it. I get super bored with old kids movies cause there's not a lot going on. I prefer the kids bratz movies, they're more entertaining.
It's just the way it's written and the poor quality, the story isn't too bad for a kids movie. I find the messages are to encourage girls they can be who they want to be, and not to let others drag them down with their negativity, but the message gets buried by other things. It's hard to explain.
If you're picky with your comfort movies, leave this one as you remember it. It's not worth ruining your perception.
