- Two of Harrow's disciples pull Marcs' body out of the water as Harrow looks on, Harrow says that he's sorry it had to be this way, and places the scarab on Marc's chest. Layla is watching from the shadows, and then attacks a disciple as he passes her. Harrow the struggle but ignores it and walks to the altar. He holds up the ushabti Marc was holding and the other disciples kneel before Harrow. Ammit's crocodile head appears on Harrow's staff, and he walks off and his disciples follow him.
Layla emerges from the shadow and goes to Marc's body. She confirms that he's dead and, crying in grief, presses her face to his body. The scarab floats into the air, leading Layla on.
Harrow and his disciples drive along a desert road, and come to a checkpoint. The disciples get out and Harrow tells the guards to show him their souls. He pulls their souls out of them and they collapse in shock. One guard remains standing and Harrow tells that he has the face of a good man. A hooded Layla is disguised as one of the disciples, draws her knife, and advances on Harrow. One of the downed guards tells Layla not do it, and then that she's the goddess Tawaret. Layla keeps going, but another Tawaret speaks though downed guard and says that it's Marc that's telling Layla to stop. Tawaret warns that Harrow is too powerful for Layla to stop, but Marc can stop Harrow if he turns to life. She says that Marc needs Khonshu, and Layla can be her Avatar. The disciples clear the bodies off the road and prepare to go, and Layla joins them.
Harrow and his disciples gather at the Great Pyramid, and Harrow uses his staff to open a passage. The other Avatars are inside, and Yatzil warns the others that someone is trying to release Ammit. Harrow, the disguised Layla, and the disciples come in. Harrow and the Avatars mystically battle, while Layla goes to the room of ushabtis, gets Khonshu's, and runs out. Meanwhile, Harrow kills the Avatars and then he smashes open Ammit's ushabti. She materializes as a giant crocodile, and her followers kneel to her. She asks who she owes her gratitude to, and when Harrow says that she owes him nothing, Ammit tells him that his scales lack balance. He says that he accepts the scales regardless of the outcome, and Ammit says that she relied on a servant whose scales were balanced and as a result she was imprisoned in stone for 2,000 years. Ammit tells him that if he serves her, Harrow will find peace and he's the one who freed her.
Layla destroys the ushabti of Khonshu, and he figures that Marc died fighting. Layla says that Marc died in Khonshu's war, and the god tells her that the war isn't over. He asks Layla if she would become his Avatar, but Layla refuses and says that she'll take her chances against Ammit and Harrow. She says that she doesn't care what Khonshu can offer her, and they'll work together without her "enslaving" herself. Khonshu says that they must rebind Ammit, and only an Avatar can do it.
Ammit and her disciples start to go out to "purify" the souls of first Cairo. Khonshu appears before them and says that he can't allow them to proceed. Harrow sends some of the disciples to find Layla.
In the Field, Tawaret tell Marc that the scales are balanced his heart is full, and his journey is over. Marc enjoys the peace he's always wanted but never had, and Tawaret says that Steven is gone and tells Marc to enjoy his peace. Marc says that they need to go back for Steven, and Tawaret warns Marc that if he leaves the Field, he can't return, and Marc doesn't need Steven anymore. Marc refuses to accept that, goes to the desert, and finds the statue of Steven.
Ammit tells Khonshu that she seeks balance, and Khonshu points out that Harrow is a sinner. Harrow tells Ammit that Khonshu wants to keep her bound.
Marc tells Steven that when he was young, Steven saved him, but he couldn't protect Steven. Marc starts to become a statue, and he says that Steven didn't abandon him and he's not going to abandon Steven. Marc tells Steven that the latter is the only superpower he ever had, and takes Steven's hand as he petrifies. His heart appears in their joined hands and glows, and they both come back to life as the heart disappears. They stand up and hug, and the gates back open.
Ammit knocks Khonshu back, and he teleports back and the two fight.
A sandstorm approaches them, and Marc and Steven run for the gates. Tawaret pilots the ship her ship into the sandstorm, delaying it and buying the two men time to get through the gate. Marc and Steven wake up in their own body, and he remembers swearing his service to Khonshu. The bullets drop out of his chest as Khonshu's power heals him, and the Moon Knight armor manifests around him. Khonshu has teleported away from Ammit, and is waiting for Moon Knight outside. Khonshu says that Ammit has been freed, and he's not strong enough to stop her. The god asks for Moon Knight's help, and Steven takes over, manifests as Mr. Knight, and says that he and Marc are one so Khonshu will have to deal with him as well as Marc. Steven asks how they're deal is going to work, and Khonshu gives his word that he'll release them both. Marc takes over as Moon Knight, and Khonshu sends him to Cairo.
Layla helps Selim, who is barely alive, out of the chamber, and asks him how they stop Ammit. Selim says that the chamber is Ammit's most powerful place, and they need to imprison her there in mortal form. He tells Layla that they need more Avatars than they have, then collapses dead from his wounds. Layla calls to Tawaret and Tawaret respond through Selim's corpse.
Layla goes to the main chamber and Harrow hears her. She runs and Harrow blasts the ruins down around her. Tawaret takes Layla's body and says that she'd be delighted to accept Layla as her Avatar, and she met Abdullah when she took him to the Field of Reeds.
Harrow steps out on a pyramid overlooking above Cairo, and unleashes the powers of his staff. All of the disciples among Cairo's population judge the people, draining their souls. The souls flow into Ammit. Meanwhile, Layla, wearing Tawaret's raiments as the Scarlet Scarab, steps out of the ruins.
Moon Knight lands on Harrow's pyramid and fights Harrow. Khonshu fights Ammit, while Marc and Steven alternate back and forth in control of their body, from Moon Knight to Mr. Knight. They crash down in the streets of Cairo. Harrow recovers first and beats Moon Knight with his staff, while Ammit beats Khonshu. Silver Scarab arrives and knocks Harrow back, and she deflects Harrow's blast back at him with her armor wings, knocking Harrow back. As Marc and Steven admire Layla's new costume, Harrow recovers and advances on them with his disciples.
Scarlet Scarab and Mr. Knight fight their way through the disciples, while Khonshu recovers and renews his attack on Ammi. Marc takes over, and Moon Knight and Scarlet Scarab fight Harrow directly. They finally overwhelm Harrow, but one of his staff's blasts a van and Scarlet Scarab goes to save it. Meanwhile, Harrow blasts Moon Knight and says that if he had killed Marc when he was younger, Randall would have been saved. Harrow blasts Marc and Layla down, while Ammit stabs Khonshu in the chest with her staff. Driving his staff into Marc's chest, Harrow drains his soul, while the disciples overwhelm Layla with gunfire.
Marc blacks out, and returns to consciousness holding Harrow's staff to the latter's forehead. Harrow is beaten unconscious, and Marc and Steven realize it wasn't either of them. The disciples are in the street unconscious, and Layla is alive. She says that she knows how to stop Ammit. They take Harrow and the staff to the pyramid and put him on the altar, and they join hands and cast the spell to bond Ammit to Harrow's body. Ammit is pulled away from Khonshu and into Harrow's body, and Ammit says through Harrow's mouth that she will never stop.
Khonshu arrives, and tells Marc and Layla to finish it and leave neither Harrow nor Ammit alive. Marc prepares to kill Harrow/Ammit, and Layla tells Marc that he has a choice. Khonshu warns that Ammit will kill again, and Marc tells the god that he sounds just like Ammit, and if Khonshu wants them dead, he should do it himself. Khonshu releases Marc and Steven, and flies off.
Steven finds himself back in the psych ward, in Dr. Harrow's office. Harrow tells Steven that it was all created in Steven's imagination. Although Harrow denies that Khonshu and Ammit are real, Marc takes over and tells Harrow that they disagree. The doctor bleeds, and Steven says that it's tempting to accept Harrow's diagnosis, but they'd rather go save the world.
Marc wakes up in Steven's London flat, with Steven in his head. He's still restrained to his bed, and trips on the manacle.
At a psych hospital, a female nurse takes a near-catatonic Harrow to bed. A man in black leather takes Harrow instead, out past an unconscious orderly, to a waiting white limo. The man throws Harrow into the past, where Khonshu is waiting. Khonshu says that Marc has no idea how troubled he really is, and that Khonshu never wanted Layla as his Avatar. The god taps on the driver's glass, and introduces the man in black as another of Marc's alters, Jake Lockley. Jake tells Harrow that it's his turn to lose and aims a gun at Harrow, shoots the man dead, and drives off.
