Although his name was initially withheld, the U.K. outlet The Times revealed it was Hanson, and it reported that 11 women complained about the producer’s behavior. Hanson has since been removed from “After Life” and suspended by BAFTA.

We were disappointed when BBC Two axed spy thriller The Game after just one series, but its lead star Tom Hughes has revealed that he wasn't upset about the decision.
The Cemetery Junction actor told Digital Spy: "The Game works as a standalone series. The story was nicely tied up, and it reached a natural conclusion.
"You can always write more stories, and had there been a second series it would have been something I'd love to have done, but as far as I was concerned I was proud of it. I don't feel like it was diminished by not coming back, quite the opposite.
"I loved the job, and I learnt a hell of a lot from it. When I read it, it was always a standalone series for me, and if it came back it would have been a different show in many ways."

Ricky Gervais' Special Correspondent, which he will direct and star in alongside Eric Bana, is yet another film to be housed under Netflix's movie distribution model. Having acquired Cary Fukunaga's much-buzzed Beasts of No Nation and producing new films from Adam Sandler, Pee-Wee Herman and the Duplass brothers, they continue their film plans by acquiring the new comedy, continuing their working relationship with Gervais, which began when they streamed the comedian's BBC sitcom Derek. Variety reports plans are to release Special Correspondent next year worldwide, and according to Karen Barragan, Netflix's spokewoman, the satire will not have a theatrical release, and will premiere exclusively on the site. Does this mean, after their debacles with major theater chains concerning Beast of No Nation and that Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon sequel Netflix has turned to releasing their film acquisitions exclusively on their sitec Time will only tell, it seems. "Having shaken up the TV industry,...

The last time Ricky Gervais took on writing, directing and co-starring duties for films, we got the double gut punch of The Invention Of Lying (dodgy, underseen) and Cemetery Junction (better, but also mostly ignored). He’ll be hoping for better things with Special Correspondents, for which he’s recruited Eric Bana.Gervais has scripted the film and plans to start shooting in New York and Vancouver next spring. Bana will play a Manhattan-based radio journalist who enjoys privileged status but has slowly being undoing himself thanks to arrogance and his decadent lifestyle. When his bosses decide they’ve had enough, he volunteers to report from the front lines of a conflict – only to fake the dispatches from his hideout above a Spanish restaurant in the heart of the Big Apple, aided and abetted by his technician sidekick, played by Gervais.Sales company Protagonist will be pushing the film to...

Everyone’s comic hero Ricky Gervais is set to star in a remake of director Frédéric Auburtin’s 2009 French comedy Special Correspondents which he will also write, direct and produce. According to Variety, Eric Bana will also star in Gervais’ third outing as director after 2009’s The Invention of Lying (co-directed with Matthew Robinson) and 2010’s Cemetery Junction (co-directed with Stephen Merchant). Have no fear, he is still scheduled to write and direct Life on the Road, a mockumentary in which he returns as “The Office” character David Brent.
The original Special Correspondents had a Wag the Dog-style scenario of France mobilizing to gain release for two kidnapped journalists in Iraq, which only the “victims” knew was a fake kidnapping. Gervais has apparently given his adaptation a media-centric spin, with Bana’s character as an arrogant, struggling New York-based radio journalist who fakes frontline war reports from a Spanish...

Ricky Gervais has confirmed that The Office's David Brent will be heading to the big screen with his own movie, Life on the Road.
So as we anticipate what Brent has been up to since the end of the BBC hit comedy, here's what the cast have done since:
Ricky Gervais
Ricky Gervais played the lead role as David Brent - the embarrassing, toe-curling and cringeworthy boss of company Wernham Hogg, devoid of self-awareness but poised with an unwavering love for the paper merchants he manages.
Gervais went on to create comedy Extras with Stephen Merchant, which was co-produced by the BBC and HBO and aired between 2005 and 2007. Gervais played ambitious actor Andy Millman, afflicted with a useless agent played by Merchant. Guest stars have included Patrick Stewart, Samuel L Jackson, Ben Stiller and Kate Winslet.
In 2009, Gervais starred in, wrote and directed his feature comedy debut The Invention of Lying.

What have Matthew Holness, Richard Ayoade, Alice Lowe and Matt Berry been up to in the decade since Garth Marenghi's Darkplace?
It’s been ten years now since author, visionary, and dreamweaver Garth Marenghi’s legendary horror TV show, Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace, was rescued from a vault in Peru and broadcast to a largely unappreciative audience.
Or, you know, in the reality we actually inhabit, it’s been ten years since a group of comedians donned 80s costumes and pretended to be aging filmmakers commenting on their own ‘lost’ series. Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace was a perfect send-up of both trashy low-budget horror and science fiction productions and pompous creators, as a bewigged Matthew Holness straight-facedly explained the unique genius of his horror writing alter ego even as his greatest creation, Dr Rick Dagless M.D., mugged away in the background.

Our series of lists devoted to underappreciated films brings us to the year 2010, and another 25 overlooked gems...
By 2010, Hollywood’s obsession with 3D movies was in full swing. James Cameron’s Avatar may have given audiences a taste of what the cutting edge of stereoscope could look like, but it has to be said that the movies ushered into cinemas in its wake were a decidedly mixed bunch. Toy Story 3's 3D was extraordinarily effective, yet Clash Of The Titans looked like a blurry mess. How To Train Your Dragon came to life in its flying sequences, but the less said about the horribly murky Last Airbender, the better.
Unless we’re mistaken, none of the movies on this list were shot or released in 3D, and few of them did particularly stellar business. A few got a certain amount of critical acclaim,...

Arriving in cinemas and on demand today, Mark Simon Hewis’ 8 Minutes Idle promises to be a charming comedy perfectly timed for the Valentine’s festivities over the weekend, with an element of office romance thrown in for good measure.

Ricky Gervais has new movie projects on the go, and one of them might just be a David Brent feature film...
The character of David Brent is still going strong for Ricky Gervais, nearly ten years after The Office came to an end in the UK (it really is a decade too - the final episode was screened on December 27th 2003). Most recently, Gervais has been running the web series Learn To Play Guitar with David Brent, and he's planning, says The Hollywood Reporter, to now sign a record deal.
Furthermore, Gervais reportedly hopes that the Learn To Play Guitar web series "will be the basis for a movie about Brent trying to make it in the music industry". The box office success of Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa can't have done that idea any harm either.
