Elizabeth takes half of her class on a field trip into the mountains. While she is away, doctor Carson substitutes and teaches the remainder of the class about their hearts.
Gowen and Lucas still aren't seeing eye to eye on the financial situation going on at Gowen petroleum. Lucas tells Gowen that he has 24 hours to give him the ledgers or Bill will hold him in contempt.
Jesse gives Clara a beautiful candlelit dinner with champagne and grilled cheese sandwiches (her favorite). He tells her that he has to get up early the next morning to go on a "timber cruise" in the mountains for the sawmill.
While up in the mountains, Elizabeth and the children encounter a wind storm. Jesse hasn't returned from his project so Lee sets out to look for him and Nathan goes to look for Elizabeth and the students.
Emily breaks away from the class and finds herself lost. Nathan finds Elizabeth and she asks him to go look for Emily. While waiting impatiently, Elizabeth sets out to find Emily on her own and does. Nathan finds them and brings them back to the cabin. He lets his anger show when he argues with Elizabeth about putting everyone in danger.
Rosemary asks Bill to help find Lee and Jesse so he gathers a search party. Clara and Rosemary end up going along too.
Elizabeth and the children arrive safely back to Hope Valley. The search party finds Lee and Jesse but Lee is severely hurt. Dr Carson brings Lee back to the infirmary where Rosemary tells him to do anything he can to help heal Lee because he is her life.
This episodes starts out a little slow but picks up quickly once the windstorm starts. Pascale's acting is absolutely incredible. She can do serious and silly SO WELL! Good episode overall.
