We see the kids in this second episode. Having 2 episodes instead of one is a stroke of genius! This is how it should be. In some other episodes they left out a ton of evidence as they didn't have time to present it as they wanted to focus on the emotional family interviews. The pace issues are totally fixed when more evidence comes into play. In other episodes that's the issue as the emotional stuff can be sooooo slow. It's fine to have it, but never too much.
It's also 2 episodes where it feels like everyone is honest. The lawyers and the accused clearly are emotional and clearly feel these things. In other episodes you could be 3 years removed from the crime and the emotions would feel fake. Here the trial makes it all new.
These 2 episodes just make me angry. SPOILER for another episode: There is an episode where a Black girl is found guilty and is going to prison for life just because her fingerprints were on a tape used for a murder. In that episode I felt like I didn't know if she was guilty or not. There was just not enough evidence. But here it's clear the whole trial is a joke. It's not just weak evidence there is no evidence.
It's also an episode with a good lawyer team. But they did do some significant mistakes. Not calling the accused to the witness stand was a huge mistake. He actually could have told the jury about how his family didn't think he did it by talking about the emotional journey he personally experienced during the investigation. The family only blamed him AFTER the police told them about his extramarital affair. We also didn't see any testimony about their economy and his lack of motive. Maybe the lawyer brought it up somehow by herself? But I don't see how it was done as nothing is shown here they only talked about it before the trial.
The prosecution here is clueless. As simple as that. I don't understand why they are wasting tax money on this joke of a trial. But then again, the accused gave a 11 hour interview to the police so he's not exactly a man with over 2 brain cells. He did deserve the trial as he did deserve to get punished for his stupidity. It's like putting your hand into the mouth of a lion and kicking it in the balls. Do you deserve to get bitten? Well, I want you to stay safe, but you brought it on yourself and if you don't learn from your mistakes you will keep making them. Next time you'll put your head into the mouth of the lion and do it again if you don't learn anything. That's my issue. I think that if people just put their own life at risk and nothing whatsoever happens that they will do it again. This trial, in my view, saved his life as he now understands that lions do bite. DON'T TALK TO THE COPS! DON'T DO IT!
