The is the first Survivor that is shorter than the traditional 39 days, Season 2 (Australian outback) was the only season that was not 39 days, it went on for 42 days. This season, Season 41 will last 26 days. The shorter season is because the requirement of all cast and crew to quarantine for 14 days upon their arrival in Fiji, imposed in the wake of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, took up some of the short production time.
Jeff Probst asked the contestants whether he should change his greeting from "Come on in, Guys." to be more inclusive. The group overwhelmingly approved keeping the greeting. The producers overrode the decision and edited the scene to make it seem a cast member had objected to it.
The names of the tribes this season, Luvu, Ua and Yase, are the respective Fijian words for flood, wave and lightning.
This is the ninth consecutive US season to be filmed in Fiji.
Starting with Season 41, the long-established schedule of having the competition last exactly 39 days (from the contestants' arrival at the starting point to the end of the final Tribal Council) was changed: every season going forward will now last 26 days instead.
