Two churches, one Black and one Latino, must join together because both are failing financially. In order to remain open they must join together, which cause problems with the up coming choir competition. Add to the mix a romance of the opposing sides. Will it all come out okay? By the numbers and unimaginative feel good film just doesn't work. Don't blame the script, which is serviceable but a tad too cliché ridden to over come the limitations behind the camera. The problems with the film are purely the directors fault since he manages to assemble the scenes in the most unimaginative way possible. How many times are we to see the same establishing shots of the church. Every scene is filmed in a limited number of set ups so that it looks packaged and and not real. this could have been more than okay, but if you're like me you're going to feel claustrophobic and start counting repeated shots.
a misfire. If you must wait for cable or borrow the DVD.
