Wednesdays are about to get more than a little spooky thanks to new supernatural drama, The Fades, on BBC Three.
The Fades stars Iain De Caestecker (River City, Coronation Street) as Paul a teenage haunted by apocalyptic nightmares and if that’s not bad enough he now started to see the Fades as well.
But who or what exactly are the Fades? Just beyond the veil of the living lie the Fades, the spirits of the dead who haunt the living. They’re all around but they can’t be seen, smelt, heard or touched by living beings. Up until now the Fades have floated around not causing much trouble to us living folk, but now one of them has found away to break the barrier between the living and the dead, which can only lead to all manner of hell breaking loose.

London – NBC Universal International president Pete Smith made good on his promise to expand the studio’s U.K. production footprint Wednesday, announcing the acquisition of Carnival Films -- producer of such glossy drama series as “Hotel Babylon” and “Harley Street” -- in a deal reputed to be worth around 30 million pounds ($56 million).
Smith said he was keen to looking at further production acquisitions in the U.K. but said NBC Universal had no ambitions to acquire ailing commercial broadcaster ITV.
“I don't think we are done in the U.K. I suspect we will do more in the U.K. and we will want to expand the business,” he said, citing comedy and reality as potential genres to target. Speaking on a conference call to announce the acquisition he indicated that NBC president Jeff Zucker had “not expressed an interest” in a bid for ITV.

Harley Street logged another unimpressive audience last night, according to early figures. The ITV1 medical drama, starring Paul Nicholls and Suranne Jones, averaged just 3.11m - a 14.9% audience share - for the channel in the 9pm hour. The figure is down 800,000 on the first episode a fortnight ago but a rise of 200,000 on last week. The surprise exit of Maysoon from Big Brother helped Channel 4 to narrowly win the slot, with an average of 3.11m (14.9%) at 9pm. A further 299,000 watched an hour later on the timeshift service. BBC One had a disappointing performance with 2.8m (13.4%) for Colin Jackson: The Making Of Me, a documentary following the athlete as he sought a genetic explanation for his hurdling talents. BBC Two drew 2.9m (13.8%) for Mock The Week at 9pm, but then the audience fell to 1.35m (6.5%) for scientific comedy Lab Rats at (more)...
