Holly birthday, Happyoaks! Sorry, let's try that again. Happy birthday, Hollyoaks! That's better.
It's often written off as the runt of the soap litter, but we're rather affectionate towards Hollyoaks. Surprisingly, it's not only survived but is set to celebrate its 20th anniversary this autumn. It now boasts 50 regulars and a faster pace than any other soap, but can you believe that Hollyoaks once focused on the adventures of only seven main characters?
Launching on Channel 4 in October 1995 with just one episode per week, Hollyoaks gradually earned a place in viewers' hearts as it followed the tangled lives and torrid loves of Kurt, Jambo, Louise, Maddie, Natasha, Dawn and Tony. So where are Chester's magnificent seven now?
Jeremy Edwards (Kurt)
Ex-model Jeremy Edwards' character Kurt Benson was Hollyoaks' original king of cool, known for his love of his motorbikes, music and the local ladies. Kurt eventually settled...

Jorgie Porter has revealed to Digital Spy that she quit Hollyoaks primarily to take part in Dancing on Ice - only to get voted out of the show in the first week.
The actress, who played Theresa McQueen in the Channel 4 soap, anticipated a long run in this year's final All Stars series and didn't want to be left "absolutely exhausted" like she was during her first stint in 2012 - but it turns out she needn't have worried.
"I thought for Dancing on Ice I'd need time out for it, but I didn't," she said during the Sainsbury's Sport Relief Games at the Olympic Park yesterday (March 23).
"When I did it two years ago I was absolutely exhausted because I was doing Hollyoaks, Hollyoaks Later and the Dancing on Ice tour. I even had to cancel a few of the tour dates because I fell asleep, my body was just exhausted,...

Jeremy Edwards admits his recent stint on 'Hollyoaks Later' didn't ''stretch'' him much as an actor. The 42-year-old star reprised his role as Kurt Benson - who was killed in a jet ski accident on 'Hollyoaks' - for the Channel 4 soap's spin-off show, and while he loved revisiting his character, who appeared as a figment of Tony Hutchinson's (Nick Pickard) imagination, he didn't feel that challenged by the part. He said: ''For me I'm very static. I'm very straight and sort of cool. I just speak very clearly and very slowly and give advice. It wasn't the greatest stretch...

Wow. I did not see that coming, I literally screamed during the shocking cliffhanger moment from this past week’s episode. I can’t even imagine where this story is going next after that one. As I’ve said before, this storyline continues to be absolutely terrific and consistently entertaining and engaging. Yes, it’s your typical coming out drama, but the show gives us interesting twists and turns, some wonderful performances and fantastic writing to make this one of the best gay sagas currently running. There were a lot of nice moments I loved in this clip, but I first want to address something from last week’s episode since there was no column last week.
It was nice to see Kal and Tariq together again. Not because I want them to reunite, I’ve made it clear that would be unacceptable...

I recently had a chat with Hollyoaks actress Jorgie Porter to hear about the hostage horror faced by her character Theresa McQueen in next week's episodes. The main interview can be found by clicking here, or alternatively you can read on for some brief bonus bits focusing on Ethan, Liberty and Hollyoaks Later favourite Logan! You've recently had a lot of scenes with Craig Vye, who plays Ethan, and Abi Phillips, who plays Liberty. Has it been nice to work with some new people?
"Yeah, it's been really good. When new people start, you remember what it was like for you when you first joined the show and all of the new things you experienced. You feel for them as well, because they've come into a big crowd of people and they don't know anyone's name. So you've just got to remember that and make them feel welcome. Craig and...
