- Dissatisfied and unable to decide on which contestant is out, the finale four ail prepare collections for the finale. But one contestant will be eliminated as only three will go to Bryant Park. And there's one more surprise challenge.
- Previously on "Project Runway:" A whole bunch or drama and sewing culminates in Korto, Jerell, Leanne and Kenley being sent off to design outfits for New York Fashion Week. The catch: Only three will compete, so four are vying for three spots. And, oh yeah, Kenley was a major, major brat.
Currently on "Project Runway:" Heidi emerges, says "Hallo!" and then lays out the rules. The designers have two months to create 10 pieces, including a wedding dress. Tim appears. "For three of you this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to compete on the fashion industry's biggest stage," he says.
Kenley complains of being sabotaged during the last competition and leaves New York without saying goodbye. "Typical Kenley," Korto says. "Rude as hell." Jerell, meanwhile, can't be bothered with the drama. He is far too concerned about getting home and making "magic." We can't wait!
Some weeks later, Tim arrives in Little Rock, Arkansas to check out Korto's progress. He deems the bead work "gorgeous" and the color palette "stunning." The designs are inspired by the woods that surround Korto's workspace -- very green, very organic. Tim has a few minor nitpicks here and there but deems the overall collection a smashing success.
Tim then goes home to meet the family. Korto's husband, daughter, friends and immediate family greet the fashion maven. Korto also gives viewers a little background on her family, which had to flee Liberia during civil war. "I want to show my daughter that whatever she wants to be she can be it," she says.
Next up: Leanne in Portland, Oregon. "I love this collection, but I'm really kind of nervous," she says. "Is he going to love it? Is he going to hate it?" Leanne's pieces are inspired by a nearby river. As a result, we see plenty of "wave patterns." Tim loves the simpler pieces but isn't too hot on the complicated wedding dress.
The two then go for a ride on a tandem bike to a nearby park. "I grew up drawing," Leanne says. "And I was always drawing dresses ... I'm so glad that I'm doing it now. It's a dream come true."
Tim hits the road again (in a Saturn, natch) and visits Jerell in Los Angeles. The designer is overjoyed to see Tim but none too happy about the man's criticisms. "This is a lot of look," Tim says of Jerell's busy line. "I think you need to start thinking about editing."
Tim meets Jerell's sister, mom, love interest and others. "Growing up in South Central L.A. was interesting," Jerell tells the camera. His parents worked hard to move the family out of the "ghetto" after rioting broke out. The designer is moved to tears describing his parents sacrifices.
Finally, Tim heads to Brooklyn, New York to check in on pouty Kenley. "I do value Tim's opinion," she tells the camera. "Even though it seems like I don't, I do." Uh huh. Her line is inspired by "Alice in Wonderland" and "painting the roses red." Tim is most impressed -- especially by a wedding dress with an overlay of feathers. "I certainly think I have a huge chance of winning," Kenley says.
The designers return to New York. Korto, Jerell and Leanne arrive first and take the opportunity to make fun of Kenley. Soon enough, the girl in question arrives and the scene can only be described as AWKWARD. "I'm sorry I was being a bitch and everything," Kenley tells the group. The apology alleviates the tension. Slightly.
Back to Parsons! Tim arrives with news. The final three spots will be decided by an extra challenge. The goal: Design a bridesmaid dress to accompany the previously designed wedding dress. The contestants are less than pleased with the bonus challenge. "I was really pissed off," Kenley says. "We were all pissed."
Nevertheless, they all head to Mood for fabrics and then back to Parsons to work. Tim arrives to check on the progress. He refers to Kenley's pleated, wrapped, bubble dress as "ambitious." On the other hand, Jerell's creation looks a bit "sloppy."
Leanne, who has completely redesigned her wedding dress, has made a very long bridesmaid dress. Tim encourages her to cut it short. Korto's creation, meanwhile, too closely resembles the bride's outfit, according to Tim. "They're each beautiful dresses," he says. "I just feel at this point that they're in competition."
Tim then gives the group a pep talk and begins crying. Awwwww! He cares so much!
The next morning, the designers arrive at Parsons to complete their dresses. Kenley, who thought she was the only one to be designing a short bridesmaid dress, notices that both Leanne and Korto have shortened their dresses. "It pissed me off!" she whines.
Runway time. Shockingly, the designers love their own creations! But will the judges? "Three of you will move on to compete at Fashion Week and one of you ... will be out," Heidi squeaks.
Michael Kors loves Leanne's two designs. So does Nina Garcia, who calls the pieces "absolutely beautiful." Heidi thinks she did a "fantastic job." Kors is not so fond of Jerell's wedding dress, however, calling it a "little garish." Heidi "doesn't know what to think about it." She calls it a "bit messy." Garcia worries that Jerell "didn't put a lot of thought into it." Ouch.
Now for Kenley. Kors finds her wedding dress reminiscent of another designer. HOWEVER: "Even though I know it looks like a McQueen dress, it still looks like Kenley," he says. On the plus side: "the bridesmaid is the cutest damn dress I've ever seen," he says. Heidi thinks the bridesmaid dress is "crazy good." Finally, Korto steps under the figurative spotlight. "I would not want to wear this dress," Heidi says of the wedding gown. Kors calls it "overworked." Garcia claims the bridesmaid dress has no "relevance to your bride's dress." Yikes.
The judges put their heads together before calling the designers back out to the runway. It's heart breaking time. "Leanne, Kenley: You will compete at New York Fashion Week," Heidi says. Much rejoicing in the back room follows. Now it comes down to Korto vs. Jerell. Who was the best of the worst? "Korto, you're in," Heidi says. "Congratulations."
Jerell, as a result, is OUT. The designer distrubutes hugs before getting off a classic parting shot: "I thought my dress was gorgeous ... If you want a basic white tee, you could just get one from Michael Kors. That's not what I do."
Oh, snap!
