Outsmarting themselves

Warning: Spoilers
I really like this episode. Even though there have already been several trips to alternate realities, The Daedalus Variations cranks the concept up several notches. Even though everything takes place within the limited space of the ship, it really takes us new places. (Incidentally, it feels a lot like SGU to me).

The plot is brilliant in its (relative) simplicity. After the initial mystery concerning the ship's origin, the pace picks up and never lets down till the end, taking the viewer through a real roller-coaster of fascinating situations, intriguing settings and riveting action scenes. And speaking of roller-coasters... when you think you've finally gotten the hang of it, McKay suddenly announces that from now on it will go even faster --but backwards! And even though character development is clearly not the main point of the episode, it still provides some interesting interplay, particularly reminding us of why Teyla was such an asset to the team.

Probably the Best Episode by Far!

A clever episode, well written and a candidate for an Atlantis film!

The Aliens that invade the Daedalus were by far the most scary of the whole series! Would love to have seen more of those.

A real high-point for Atlantis!

Great 'variation' on the alternate reality storyline

Great storyline with ongoing suspense. Seasons 4 and 5 of Stargate Atlantis get a bad wrap but there are great episodes in these seasons and this is one of them. Parts with good humour and new bad guys to add to the stargate universe. Episodes like these make me think the show could have gone on for more seasons and sad that it didn't!

Incorrect Goof

I can't figure out how to make specific comments. This is the best I could do. If you send me a link to instructions in how to contribute to your site, I would appreciate it. To my point, there's a goof where it talks about how Rodney says that this is Teyla's first mission back as a member of the team being wrong because she asked to return to the team last episode. While true she asked and was accepted back, she asked at the end the episode, making Rodney's statement true.

Ew...

I really wanted to enjoy this Stargate Atlantis episode becuase I enjoy good sci-fi story explorations. Unfortunately, this is another story that can only be created by delusional people. Nonsensical plot, with big enough holes to drive a tank through, though I guess that's par for the course with SG Atlantis. The writers and producers made this show sooo unnecessarily incomplete with half thought out storylines they never even try to resolve. From Rainbow's story arc, to dozen or so others. That others rated this episode so high informs on the general lack of quality to come from the minds of moons and to entertain the same.
