Cases Are Interesting
Hitchcoc4 August 2022
The sperm bank kids have an interesting problem. Is it indeed true that they have no right to know medical information from the donor? The military case is also rather disheartening. We have this great respect for the people who serve but they are right. They are chattel. We are still trying to find a way to at least give acceptable medical treatment, especially psychological treatment to these men and women. And yet someone somewhere seems to have the power to stop it.

Can You Be Sure You Don't Love Your Sister?
DKosty1231 November 2009
Warning: Spoilers
While both plots are well done mixing some light comedy with more direct drama, the more thought provoking one is the one with a half-brother & half-sister who accidentally meet & fall in love. They do not know they are relatives but the mother who brings the case to the law firm suspects it.

The Sperm Bank has a legal shield they try to use to hid the fact that both of them have the same father as a donor. In a way, when you look at this issue and realize the implications of our modern society today, a society where some women have had children with multiple fathers, it makes one wonder how many actual half-brothers & half-sister really are married in the United States today? This is one of the better cases for Jerry in the series. His character role is really stretched & tested with this script.

THE BET
cervantes-426 February 2023
So far, this is my favorite episode (I am on a binge, checking out four per day). The writing here is outstanding. The performances, as always, great - yes, Captain Kirk once again can charm the pants off anyone (certainly, as an old girlfriend once told me, not just an aging pretty boy!); Judge Byron Fudd, played by Chuck McCann, is wonderful, not a cartoon caricature as judges have been sometimes played in this series; and Alan Shore is more than himself in summation while under very 'difficult' circumstances. So sorry this is the final season. I could watch this quality until the cows come home, just like I felt for Breaking Bad.

Phoning it in
frank-hood22 June 2022
They're really just phoning it in with this last season. The sperm bank plot is resolved in a way any simpleton would have thought of the instant the problem presented itself.

Even if it allowed the characters to rant about a current issue, they really should have tried harder to make it plausible.
