The first episode of "Roadkill" was good, but not great for me. I thought the journalism angle of the story was not very well done. The second episode is fortunately a bit better than the previous one. It is still not great, but fares very well indeed.
Let's start with the good aspects, shall we?
. The production values are great as usual for the show. The acting is pretty good for the most part. Hugh Laurie fits the part so well, Olivia Vinall, who I don't always like, gives one of her best performances here. Sylvestra Le Touzel is, agreed, quite good too.
. The story has intrigue, is well-paced and has moments of intensity- especially towards the end (with Charmian getting killed).
But...
. The journalism angle of the story is still quite weak. Charmian is such an unrealistic character. She is the type, who does not understand why everyone is saying she's incompetent though she definitely is. The scenes with her are just not that interesting. The actress is not bad, it's just her naiive character, which is the problem.
Overall, liked it, but did not love it.
8/10 HK.
