Great documentary with a good soundtrack

This documentary was great! It showed various sides of the American prison system and did so with great use of a house soundtrack to go along with the film. The lyrics of the songs were written by people who had been to prison and it featured tracks that are already popular within house music. The use of this music was great and as one article said - it is nice to see the parallels of the freedoms that prison takes away and then the freedoms that house music allows. Many scenes just playing whole songs with people dancing to them which made me smile lots throughout the film.

It was nice to see a section of the film focused on LGBTQ+ people and how they have been treated in the prison system. This was not the main focus of the film but it took up a big portion of it.

One thing I would say with this film is to just be wary of the disjointed editing. Some parts are shown and then cut quickly to another section however by the end of the film you get the main ideas and the strong message it is presenting regardless.
