Overshadowed

While understandable, the USA hosts overshadowed the spirit of the Olympic games with excessive talk of politics instead of putting sole focus on the athletes. Also, what was with that final flame? No fanfare.

Boycotting the Games but Wanted to Welcome the Atheletes

Watched the Opening Ceremonies live because I wanted to welcome the athletes as they crossed the Beijing Gate to the stadium I'm an avid winter sports fan but there wasn't the enthusiasm or joy I remember from pervious year. The greeting from the president of the IOC felt like a boring long church sermon. Got the impression he didn't want to be there either. And the raising of the Olympic flag by CCP military was very disappointing. Did recognize Shaun White which was a plus , but Lindsey Vonn and Jonny Weir make the boycott so much easier to accommodate. The childrens choir was the highlight.
