Let's start with the writers this time.
Jane Espenson wrote an article about Torchwood for BBC.co.uk that provides some info about the creative process behind Miracle Day. You can read it here.
Mark Verheiden tweets that he is back in the Falling Skies writers' room. Caprica co-creator & new Fs showrunner Remi Aubuchon confirms that Verheiden will be on staff for season two as a consulting producer. (Yes, Remi Aubuchon has joined Twitter.)
Race Bending has a fantastic new interview with Carmen Moore. She talks about Blackstone, playing Fidelia in Caprica, how she got cast in Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome (she will likely be a regular if B&C gets picked up) and some of her other projects, both old (Andromeda) and more recent (Two Indians Talking).
You can read the partial transcript here or listen to the whole interview below.

After a centuries-old Gargoyle slumbering underneath a Parisian church is awakened, it’s up to a college professor, a tabloid reporter, her sidekick and a crazy priest to stop it.
If you glance at the DVD cover of Rise Of The Gargoyles or read the back synopsis, you’ll be fooled into thinking this film is full of apocalyptic Gargoyle mayhem. But after watching the first five minutes, you’ll be slapped back into cold reality. Yes, this is another entry in Genius Entertainment’s Maneater Series. And no, there is no apocalyptic Gargoyle mayhem. However, there are plenty of bad French accents….
Don’t worry. You have nothing to fear. A race of ancient, demonic Gargoyles isn’t going to take over the world anytime soon. In fact, in Rise Of The Gargoyles there’s only one gargoyle, and it’s on screen for a total of six minutes.

In this incarnation of our Videolog column (which began in 1982 with VHS and Betamax and later laserdisc), Starlog posts information usually on Tuesdays regarding selected genre titles being released (or re-released) now on DVD and Blu-ray. Prices listed are Msrp, though the clickable links lead to Amazon where the savings can be significant.
DVD Releases for September 8, 2009:
Alvin And The Chipmunks: The Very First Alvin Show & Alvin And The Chipmunks: Go To The Movies: Star Wreck (Paramount, $16.99): Two Alvin DVDs hit video shelves. The Very First Alvin Show is, well, the very first Alvin show from the 1961 animated series that started it all. It has never been released on DVD or VHS before, and it’s accompanied by two additional episodes, “Rockin Through the Decades” and “A Chipmunk Reunion.” The same-priced Star Wreck is, of course, a Star Trek parody with Alvin as Captain Dirk, commander of the S.

Creepshow (Bd) - Warner Bros.
Amazon.com says: Inspired by the controversial E.C. Comics of the 1950s--which also provided the title and inspiration for the popular Tales from the Crypt TV series--director George Romero and screenwriter Stephen King serve up five delightfully frightful stories. Utilizing comic-book panels, animated segues, and exaggerated lighting and camera angles, Romero and cinematographer Michael Gornick come very close to replicating a horror comic in film format. The results mix fine acting with the morbid sense...

If you missed Simon Hunter’s grisly futuristic action-shocker Mutant Chronicles during its recent limited theatrical run, there’s now a date to mark your calendars for the movie’s premiere on the Sci Fi Channel. It’ll help send off the station’s old incarnation just before it’s rebranded as (yuck) Syfy in July.
Mutant Chronicles, with Thomas Jane, Ron Perlman, John Malkovich and Devon Aoki, has its first Sci Fi showing Saturday, June 27 at 9 p.m., followed by a repeat Sunday, June 28 at 6:30 p.m. Also set for next month is the Sci Fi debut of Rise Of The Gargoyles, the latest in the ever-growing series of flicks about the winged beasts. Vipers’ Bill Corcoran directed this one, with Eric Balfour, Nick Mancuso and Tanya Clarke starring; it airs Sunday, June 21 at 9 p.m. Check out the trailer here.
