This is an improvement over last season's ender. That was disappointing. To be fair, cutting someone's *life* into TV show seasons is a daunting task. Where to end one season and start the next? The problem is obvious when viewing the whale that was the third season: it had more episodes than seasons one and two combined and *eight* more than the fourth season alone. It must have been hard to find a somewhat meaningful place where to end the season. But real life doesn't work that way. It was a no-win situation. Thus, overlong season with a boring final episode.

Actually having some drama in this episode and seeds of possible future events elevates this from the usual faceless episodes. But it is still far from must-see-TV. The Hills is a prisoner of its own concept. Well, actually not *its* own, since it is a spin-off, but the idea remains. Making a reality drama will always be a more risky undertaking than a reality contest. But it seems to create franchises (another spin-off) and celebrities out of somewhat ordinary people (the people in The Hills hardly represent the average American)... 5/10 for this one.
