- Lauren begins to realize that the chemistry she felt for Doug in high school may no longer be there.
- Whitney tells LC about going to New York for her new position. Lauren is unenthusiastic about Doug, with no juicy details to report to Whitney. She just remembers liking him a lot more when she was younger, and she doesn't feel the same fire that she felt for Brody. Whitney Lauren needs to put it to an end with Doug so that she doesn't lead him on.
LC and Steph decide to stay friends. So sweet. After all, Stephanie has been disowned by her brother, Spencer, but Lauren is such a good friend.
Whitney arrives at her new workplace in NYC, although a little too late for Kelly's liking. While working at a model casting, they meet Alex. After asking him to take off his shirt, Kelly asks him to come by and have drinks with them. 8:45 sharp. It seems that Kelly has plans to set Whitney up. This is called multi-tasking in the power bitch world. Kelly loves being in the power bitch world.
Speidi go out to dinner and Spencer regrets not throwing Steph's birthday cake in LC's face at the party. So hostile. Heidi misses Stephanie. "You should go hang out with her and Lauren."
"Well, maybe I will."
"Then don't come home to me then."
LC is out for sushi with Brody. Brody comments on all of LC's bracelets, so LC explains: "These are my sparklys and these are my friendships." Brody thinks that Stephanie has ulterior motives. He claims to know things about Stephanie that would blow Lauren's mind. She tells Brody she's done with Doug and he is not surprised. "My type is someone I've already dated." Whitney meets up with Alex from the earlier casting. She thinks he is special. Kelly calls Whitney and she says that no one is coming. It was a set up and it might just be a match. They hit it off over drinks and take a walk around the big city talking about fashion.
LC and Stephanie are going for a night on the town. LC tells Steph things aren't going anywhere with Doug. They plan to have some kickbacks at Steph's place now that she lives alone, without Spencer as a permanent couch fixture. Then the two have a strange conversation that reveals Steph's confusion about her own pet: She used to be a hamster. Now she's a guinea pig. Huh?
Back in Cali, Whitney tells LC all about Alex and Kelly Cutrone's set-up. LC hasn't ended it with Doug, but has been avoiding him. She's waited too long, and she can't string him along anymore.
Stephanie comes by Speidi's place with a peace offering gift, but Spencer's not in the mood to open presents. But, he decides to peek at it and finds a book on the history of the CIA and is happy with the gift. He must love the CIA. They make small chat, including Spencer providing descriptions of Heidi as amazing and Speidi as phenomenal. Stephanie mentions maybe they can hang out sometime, but Spencer is still sticking to his guns. As long as she's friends with LC, he doesn't think that's going to happen
Meanwhile, LC goes to Doug's place to break it off. LC tells him, "It's just not there." Feeling like he's treated Lauren like a princess, he seems a little distraught by this. They'll still be friends, though, and Lauren admits that they had a lot of fun. Lauren drives away feeling bad, but relieved she broke it off. It just wasn't the right time, and it wasn't the right place for Lauren and Doug.
