Even though the scenes represent spring or fall, the film was shot in freezing temperatures, with actors huddling under a coat after takes.
Music taken from late Spanish zarzuela composer Francisco Alonso. The pieces featured in the film were piano compositions he never published and were only unearthed and performed in 2016. The pieces were usually made by Francisco Alonso to woo ladies or for friends thus their respective titles "Rosita" "Miguel." This fits with the theme of the film of a song being composed for romantic purposes.
Was filmed with students and equipment from New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study.
Two of the judges in the final scene are the director's parents.
The film finished shooting in December of 2017 and a first cut of the film was made before New Years of that year. However, complications due to the adaptation of the music (was originally going to be guitar) caused the delay of the finished product for 2 years to September 2019.
