overhype
ksyp-2276911 March 2023
The starting of the movie is a bit okay when Shah Rukh Khan enters, it feels a bit good at that time💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥. Then later storing gets boring. Same boring old story. Those who have even a little knowledge about the movie can easily tell that there is no story in the movie. Shahrukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, everyone's acting is good. In this the actor cannot be blamed who has written the story. He has written a completely nonsense story. Those poor people cannot do anything in that.😂😂😂. I had booked a VIP seat for this movie to watch comfortably. It would be such a great movie. But I felt ok ok, nothing special. Friend, if I tell the truth, from my heart.

Disappointing once's again...........
Kulin3325 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This would have been a great films with such sting cast and big budget.

SRK is just following the trends I guess make a movie like marvel with good VFX and keep comedy lines in dialogue so that people find it funny and think of you as tony stark.

I mean seriously the dialogue's were so childish. The movie was even very predictable with a climax that was just the most disappointing part of it

I gave this movie 3 stars coz of John Abraham who's character is quite interesting and makes the movie tolerable to watch

This movie needed to take inspiration from Baby and mission impossible franchise.

I went to watch the movie after watching movie like drishm2 ,ved .my expectations was i will see a masterclass . Pathaan movie is just a copied version of fast and furious, tiger Zinda Hain, war.plot of film is very common, not new story.. direction is good, some scenes are excellent shooted with abroad shooting.special effect and VFX are ok type.. shahrukh tries to give a good performance but he as action hero doesn't appeal.cameo of srk and Salman Khan was high point of movie.dimple kapadia was good, her performance was strong and powerful.deepika was more glamorous and Less agent,,she could have been used better.john abrahim was awesome, his swag was great his looks hunky, style, panesh,he was more better than srk...in all movie was not bad ,not good..I wouldn't watch movie for second time.my issue is after I left theatre thier was no scene tht I would remember for long time..it's a average movie not epic.. spend upto 300 rs only for ticket not more . Pathan hype is more content is less.

Flawed at times but mostly entertaining with some great action sequences
ReelShahid26 January 2023
If you liked Tiger franchise and War movie then you are going to love Pathaan. The movie starts with a grand entry of SRK and then is handed to now very experienced hands of John to take the audience by surprise. Only a star of SRK's charisma and class could handle someone like John without actually being overshadowed by the later. John Abraham returns back to his lovable villanious form that he once donned in Dhoom. Deepika's role was well written and no her on screen presence was not just limited to some item numbers but was actually crafted for a solo lead for another YRF Spy Verse movie which I am sorry to say that Katrina's character of Zoya in Tiger franchise terribly lacks. Won't be surprising if Deepika gets her own Black Widow kinda movie and team YRF should definitely think about it.

Overall a very entertaining movie filled with grand scale action sequences and with lot of inner jokes from Bollywood on Bollywood.

Note - The fans from middle east are in for a surprise at the end, when Jhoome Jo Pathaan song is played. Wait till the very end, there is a lovely post credit scene waiting for all you fans!

Live Action Cartoon
looking_Work18 February 2023
I went in to see this because of positive RT scores and comments which said this movie reeked of action. The reviewers just left out the part where they were supposed to say the action was unbelievable. It is worth a watch if you have 2.5 hours to kill.

The fight choreography between SRK and 'Jim' (I'm too tired to look up the actor's name) were exceptional. Those featuring Padukone were kind of hit and miss. Sometime they reached Marvel's Black Widow heights, other times they were almost laughable.

Jim was a good villain. His backstory was touching and you could empathize with him and the reasons that he was doing what he was doing. I couldn't root for him because you already know how the story is going to end but you just don't know how they will get there.

Finally, the soundtrack (or background music). It was repetitive when there was a fight between the protagonist and antagonist. So much so that I found it irritating after a while.

Pathetic!
sujitbasu-3797327 January 2023
SRK was once a favourite of mine. I only watched this movie because of him. I was disgusted with the filmmakers and script writers after viewing it. The movie occasionally deviates from logic, as evidenced by one scene where the heroes were seen running at the speed of a train! It is difficult to get crowds to the theatre with these scripts and directions!

Please halt the visual effects. It appears really manufactured. Why would you need VFX with seasoned actors like SRK and Salman Khan?

Bollywod needs to give good narratives and direction some serious thought. Sad to watch Bollywood struggling to survive when Tollywood is suddenly earning recognition on a global scale.

Great Comeback
rafayrasheed03010 August 2023
I had the privilege of experiencing the highly anticipated movie "Pathaan," and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. From the intense action sequences to the gripping storyline, Pathaan delivers a cinematic masterpiece that will leave you on the edge of your seat throughout.

The star-studded cast, led by powerhouse performances from Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham, brings a perfect blend of emotion and intensity to their respective roles. The chemistry between the lead actors is palpable, adding depth to the narrative and making the characters truly relatable.

But what truly sets Pathaan apart is its impeccable direction and visual spectacle. The breathtaking cinematography captures the essence of every scene, transporting the audience into a world that feels both authentic and larger-than-life. The action choreography is nothing short of stunning, showcasing jaw-dropping sequences that rival some of the best in the industry.

Furthermore, the music and background score beautifully complement the film's mood, enhancing every emotion and heightening the overall impact. The soundtrack lingers long after the credits roll, reminding you of the emotional journey you've just experienced.

Pathaan is more than just a movie; it's an immersive experience that raises the bar for Bollywood filmmaking. Kudos to the entire team behind this cinematic gem for delivering a gripping story, unforgettable performances, and top-notch production quality. If you're a fan of action, drama, and pure cinematic magic, Pathaan is an absolute must-watch.

Commercial of the most commercial defying common sense
gituchora-5220526 January 2023
First things first, suspend your sense of disbelief before you sit to watch this film. Some super creative liberties have been taken to salvage SRK's flagging career. His fan armies may be making a lot of noise around the movie but as a neutral viewer, I found this movie to be just run of the mill heroism cut from the same cloth as Salman Khan's chest thumping macho cinema as seen in the likes of Ek Tha Tiger or Tiger Zinda Hai. Logic is out. It's just visual appeal, bravado laden dialogues and other such massy elements. The hype and hoopla surrounding the movie betrayed the real deal. The movie is all style and totally lacking substance. Beyond a point, such cinema begins to cause heartache. All said and done, the movie does have its high points such as Salman Khan's Tiger character integrations, Ashutosh Rana's acting and John Abraham's svelte looks. Besides that the VFX is low brow, masculinity overboard and a supremely weak storyline and weak writing. It can be watched once on OTT. Not worth the ticket price.

Wanted to leave the theatre for the very 1st time
soumyasinghss8 March 2023
The story, the plot had the potential to serve a good and entertaining film...What ruined it completely was the physics and VFX . The start of the film was amazing it gave you the John Wick vibes ( the fist fight and the shot gun scene) and the train sequence where SRK fights 1 v 8 or something + the research lab scene where they all sacrifice themself for greater good. For anyone who has watched fast and furious films can agree that this film copied almost all the action/stunt sequences. I don't wanna ruin for someone who hasn't watched the film but it gave me cringe when John Abraham with his brute force pulled down the Strong rope that connected the 2 helicopter and attached to the truck. Anyways I expect better from action movies and this film is a success only because of SRK else nothing new in the film.

SRK is back with a bang!
Due to some unavoidable circumstances, I couldn't watch Pathaan theatrically, but the streaming release gave me that chance to experience one of the highest grossing actioners of the year. And well, I totally enjoyed the film. The plot is simple and typical of what you usually expect in a big-budget spy film, but the stunning action choreography, fast-paced storytelling and a gripping plot make Pathaan a feast for the viewers who love action and thrill.

Shah Rukh Khan is fantastic as the titular character and it is indeed tough to imagine someone else in this role; SRK totally commands the screen presence with his performance and delivers the promised fun. Deepika Padukone is also terrific in most of her scenes, while John Abraham shines as the antagonist after a long list of heroic lead roles he has played over the years. His character is written brilliantly and manages to leave a terrifying, unforgettable impact. Others are also adequate.

Just like the previous installments of the YRF spy universe barring Ek Tha Tiger, Pathaan doesn't have too many songs and instead remains focused on the plot. The biggest draw is the film's action, which is executed stupendously with some great visual effects. The interval twist is not something which is unpredictable, but is enjoyable and lays foundation for a much more exciting second half, which eventually gets served with a mind-blowing cameo!

Unless you expected Pathaan to have a very complex, groundbreaking or convoluted espionage storyline, you are good to go as the film is enjoyable despite its occasional predictability. The fights, stunts and explosions are sufficient to compensate for any other flaw you might stumble upon. Clearly one of the best action flicks of the year with a strong repeat value.

Raw Saga of Patriotism minus the Spy Genre!
sulemanashiq225 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Yash Raj Films cashed on the 'Civilian Vs Military' hysteria of their neighbouring country and produced a film which heavily relied on the charisma of ShahRukh Khan & massy cameo of superstar Salman Khan, who reprised his role from Tiger franchise.

If you're looking for a depth or traditional spy genre movie, then Pathan is not your cup of tea, It's plain and predictable with the brand of cinema you have already seen in many Bollywood films especially when they integrated "Pakistan" as their nemesis.

John Abraham played "Jim" an ex Raw officer, who turned into a monster after a he lost his wife and children during a mission. He blamed Raw and turned havoc over his motherland adjoining Pakistani general "Qadir" carbonated from the ex COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa, then Raw/JOCR turned to "Pathan" who was exiled purposely after he messed up a mission in Russia. Abraham got some depth and his presence was felt through first half after that his character lost depth and he became predictable.

Khan played Pathan, the man with no roots, his character was not justified though SRK aced whatever the script offered him. He was massy, witty and grimacing brilliant as Pathan, which never connected to his ancestral roots which I imagined before the release of the film.

Deepika played an ISI agent, totally distorting the "Islamic Republic" image of Pakistan. Though Rubina/Rubai was a fictional character but it was trash to reality specifically when they linked it to a Pakistani woman. They disgraced the honor of Pakistani woman brilliantly.

Mass factor of the film was Salman Khan cameo as Tiger, he owned Khan for a sequence, totally outshines SRK for a while. It was great to see, both khan's lighting the screen with hotness and swagger.

Don't expect something marvellous, the movie will never disappoint you!

One of the worst movie I have ever seen
Carolyn_Channing25 January 2023
The screen play is so horrible, poor pacing and the childish dialogues doesn't help, either. The VFX and CGI in the movie is pathetic, can obviously tell it's SRK's duplicate Ibrahim Qadri who is doing all the stunts. Usually the movies are good in the first half, but here the first half is so bad that you just can't wait for the movie to be over and the less said about the second half, the better.

Looks like SRK still hasn't learned anything all these 5 years and still sticking to his usual crap. His fans surely won't find my review helpful, either and will blindly rate this movie but as someone who just went through this abomination of a movie, it's my job to save people's time and money.

Not a family movie, rushed and unclear plot
aishahussain-330505 March 2023
As a part of the audience, I feel that I just have to write this review, as unfortunate as it may be. I watched Pathaan with my family and there were multiple scenes that were just inappropriate and unnecessary. Other than that, the plot was super unclear and I didn't understand why a virus was brought into it. I thought we would be seeing something new, as there are many films from the past that have this same trope of a deadly virus. The movie was 2 hrs and 30 minutes approximately, quite a long film but I don't understand why everything in the film, every sequence, felt rushed and like it didn't make much sense. I also found the CGI and VFX extremely fake and artificial, which was disappointing. I know that a team and actors worked really hard to make this film as they do others, but I feel that Pathaan just took advantage of the fact that there were stars like SRK, Deepika, John Abraham, and Salman Khan in it. Would you genuinely enjoy the film had it been some other actors? Anyway, I do feel like I had my hopes up too high for this film. I just hope that Bollywood can make good films again soon.

Warning: Spoilers
Yes as a educated upsc aspirant this is , disaster and worst.

What the hell is rakhtbeej🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣?

Deepika is not so hot, only hype.

Srk sorry not so much good .

2nd half is worst Besharam rang is faltu torture film worst

Ab war 2 mat lana.

The film is not good.

The movie seems to be a bit of Chimera made of several movies put together - Gadar, Tiger and Hero Panti series.

It was mostly chapri crowd in the theatre hooting , clapping and shouting and then there were loads of "not so excited folks" like me given the movie's story line.

Guess, I may have been looking at much better story but then what works for the masses is what gains traction it seems.

My suggestion to someone not wanting to watch brainless fighting scenes, they could avoid the movie.

ACTION PACKED...
shaikhirshad-4122325 January 2023
Director Siddharth Anand has created the same magic as he did for WAR but this time in a large way. The Presentation of SHAHRUKH KHAN is phenomenal specially the entry sequence, the fight scenes, the acting is just totally stunning. Powerful Comeback of SRK you can easily say. Deepika Padukone will please you away. She looks so stunning and even her action sequences are good. Whereas talking about the villain John Abraham is not perfect but he looks absolutely brilliant in all action sequences and whenever the face-off of Srk & John happens.

Good Points: Movie is shot in a grand spectacle and you can clearly see when you watch the film VFX looks far better as we expected.

Action Sequences are one of the highlights in the movie and the fast paced action sequence will blow you away.

There are lots of twist & turns and Surprising Cameos which will blow your mind in the movie.

Bad Points: Story is as similar as war not totally same but you can easily say a typical patriotic one which is a big drawback of the film John is good as villain but director could've shown him in more powerful way because it didn't seem john has uses is full potential in this film.

It's definitely a one time watch film specially for its action sequences and a powerful performances of SRK and all the actors . (8/10) Action lovers don't miss this...

Definitely a Great Watch & a visual treat for srk fans, but overall feels shallow and is unable to connect & satisfy
vpashish26 January 2023
Action packed entertainer and a visual treat for not only srk fans but also all action dimension movie lovers. Storyline, dialogues, cinematography, acting, direction, action scenes, all things fit perfectly to create this amazing entertainer. Music is on point. The sprinkles of comedy and humour combined with the unique charm of srk help to elevate overall experience of the movie. But something feels lacking, some stones are left unturned. The movie is unable to connect and satisfy the viewer like typical srk movies do.

The level of satisfaction while leaving the theatre is low, unlike other srk movies. The structuring and sequencing of the scenes could have been done in a more better manner. Deepika is just a timepass character and fails to impress. John is "OK". Storyline is also pretty straight and simple and lacks real twists and turns to give you that nail biting experience. It almost feels that just because it is srk people are forcing themselves to like the movie. U replace srk with any other star and movie will go down for sure. The director of the movie miserably failed to effectively utilise the asset named srk he had at his disposal.

Also originality is at question as many times the movie feels just compilation of scenes from different movies like War, Welcome, Don series, Happy New year, race 2, character M from James bond, Ek tha tiger etc. The emotions are lacking and only action is visible.

Overall a one time watch average movie with driving factor srk transformaing it into a hit.

Wannabe Ethan Hunt dances his audiences to death
dipta-nayak8725 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
What do you get when you have Ethan Hunt in mind but a "Rahul" as the lead actor you get a goofy, almost childish like character who dances, romances and bores you to death.

This is almost like those parody movies Hollywood produces for the blockbusters except the makes themselves too seriously and try to make you think like they are seasoned filmmakera who knows what they are doing. Same old plot, same old antagonists , same old humour with a subtle propaganda this time.

An ex RAW agent creates a Terrorist group and tries to destroy India. I mean have you lost all sense of reality!!!. And an ISI agent works with Pathaan to save India. Wow *sarcastic claps*

Pathaan: A Riveting Journey into Shahrukh Khan's Versatility
sanahashamkhan15 July 2023
Pathaan, starring Shahrukh Khan in the lead role, is a gripping action thriller that delves into the dark underworld of espionage and showcases Khan's incredible versatility as an actor. Directed by Siddharth Anand, known for his expertise in delivering adrenaline-pumping narratives, Pathaan successfully combines elements of action, suspense, and emotional depth to create an engaging cinematic experience.

One of the most impressive aspects of Pathaan is Shahrukh Khan's performance. He effortlessly embodies the character of Pathaan, a mysterious and skilled secret agent, with his trademark charisma and intensity. Khan captivates the audience with his powerful screen presence, delivering a nuanced performance that beautifully balances Pathaan's vulnerability and resilience. He shines in the high-octane action sequences, displaying agility and finesse, making every punch and kick look believable.

The film's plot is intricately woven, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats throughout. The narrative unfolds as Pathaan finds himself caught in a complex web of deceit, where he must confront his past and navigate treacherous alliances to protect his loved ones. The screenplay keeps a steady pace, blending moments of heart-stopping action with emotional depth and thought-provoking dialogue.

Pathaan boasts a talented ensemble cast, including Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, who bring their A-game to the table. Padukone portrays a resilient and fiercely independent agent, matching Khan's charisma in every scene they share. Abraham delivers a commendable performance as the formidable antagonist, adding a layer of intensity and unpredictability to the film.

The action sequences in Pathaan are a visual spectacle. The meticulously choreographed fights, breathtaking stunts, and slick cinematography make for a thrilling cinematic experience. The film makes excellent use of its international locations, immersing the audience in a world of high-stakes espionage and cat-and-mouse chases.

The music of Pathaan, composed by the legendary duo Vishal-Shekhar, is a standout aspect of the film. The soundtrack complements the narrative perfectly, enhancing the emotional impact of key scenes and elevating the overall experience. The catchy songs, coupled with Shahrukh Khan's iconic dance moves, add moments of levity and entertainment amidst the intense storyline.

Despite its strengths, Pathaan does suffer from some minor flaws. The film occasionally relies on familiar tropes of the action genre, and certain plot twists may be predictable for seasoned viewers. However, the exceptional performances, well-executed action, and engrossing storytelling compensate for these minor shortcomings.

In conclusion, Pathaan is an engaging action thriller that showcases Shahrukh Khan's versatility as an actor. Siddharth Anand's direction keeps the film gripping from start to finish, with well-executed action sequences, a compelling narrative, and strong performances from the cast. Fans of Shahrukh Khan and lovers of the action genre will undoubtedly find Pathaan to be an enjoyable cinematic experience that reaffirms Khan's position as the king of Bollywood.

Borrowed victory for King Khan, John steals the show
sagar-swapna9 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Pathaan is a mashup of old style Hollywood spy movies. The virus, the vault, rogue agent, Hot female lead etc you name it everything is there. Only thing missing was uniqueness in treatment.

Anyways jokes aside I am not at all convinced by the title of the movie as Pathaan. Shahrukh does nothing that shows he is a Pathaan. Even the backstory is very abrupt and seems convinient which adds no emotional angle at all. The movie tries to get from one plot to another without really building up on anything. Siddharth Anand's prime focus is action he is not bothered why it's done or how it's done. It's clearly visible that the Dubai fight sequence with John is done infront of green screen the backround looked like a poster. The train sequence when it starts the whole background looks like cheap animation even the water in the river is still no flow at all. I can go on and on and on about poor vfx some are at Adipurush level if you look at it. Shahrukh should have insisted on practical effects.

Siddharth can you please answer why every action piece needs to be at impossible level. Even video games are believable. It's not that hard to make an action sequence difficult and believable at the same time. Looking at Pathaan I felt Marvel movies were still believable given the circumstances. I am not even talking about loopholes which were plenty.

Coming to acting and screen presence John Abraham completely steals the show as he is given almost all of the best lines and he delivers them like a pro. He never looked so handsome, most dashing villian ever. Not convinced by his background story yet you can feel his anger. Clearly he is the best part of the movie, his end could have been better not in an animated Hut please. Dimple Kapadia's role is saved by her acting prowess she is a class act, I feel bad that her character is dead she could have added a lot of value to the franchise. I feel Shahrukh and Deepika only added star value. Their characters need a lot of ground work to connect with audience. Please hire some real foreign actors I guess Russians actors are not expensive. Terrible acting by all Russians

Pathaan feels like a movie that wants to show you the destination and forgets that the real magic is the journey. The movie rests on the laurels of huge fandom of its casts. People who have grown up watching Bond movies or mission impossible movies or Bourne trilogy will find it funny. The others have found it entertaining.

This is not a movie Shahrukh should be proud of. It's not unique or new or path breaking. It's just run of the mill average spy movie a huge hit in Indian context. Miles to go till we make a real spy movie. I'm going with 6 out of 10 for Pathaan.

The king is back to regain his thrown
sunilpalandurkar25 January 2023
This film is all about entertainment. A little bit slower first half but the second half covers up everything and my o my what a climax. I just loved watching the film n now looking forward to watch it again on IMAX screen. The film has a proper story, interesting execution and long action sequences, most specially SRK's hand to hand combat sequences. BGM is also good. Dipika has done a good and John, wow he soaked up his character so brilliantly, his dialogues and evil mind-set makes u hate him more. SRK is back baby and he is back in a monstrous way. A very big thumbs up for pathaan. All the very best.

Same old Bollywood
jomy-augustine28 January 2023
Bollywood never learns but just copy from movies that are made either by south India or by the west... Those who've seen 007 movies in the 90s would agree that this is just an Hindi version of Bond movies made by Hollywood in the past 2-3 decades... The fight scene on truck-top in the earlier part of the movie looked more like drama than action. There was no logic in about 30% of the movie. Well you cannot expect logic where there are ShahRukh and Salman. That's where much criticized Amir Khan stands apart. Overall the movie is one-time watch even for the fans of stars in this film. Stunts in the train-fight was well directed untill Salman Khan showed up.

Totally disappointed with crap acting
xeloxobusiness26 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
20 years back movies used to have content and acting but now a days only big old age actors want to create nonsense just to earn money.

Acting is totally pathetic. Story line is very simple and VFX are totally disappointed.

There are more better movies on OTT now a days like Gullak and Panchayat which are much better than these nonsense movies.

These nonsense old age actors must stop acting and start doing some other job.

People are fed up with this kinda of repeated nonsense.

I will have to now watch some OTT series to make my mood. This movie have proved why 99% Bollywood movies are failing.

A Brief Review from an SRK fan.
thedarkprince-2905925 January 2023
I have watched Srk since Badshah days and I have to say, his luck has run out in terms of picking the right project.

Tigmanshu Dhulia once said in an interview that SRK is oscar material if someone can extract the craft from him. Sadly Siddharth Anand is not the guy. All new-age upcoming directors should watch this movie only to learn how to not make one.

I can't think of any positives other than the fact that the project offered employment to the technicians of various departments.

PS: You'll enjoy this movie if you have liked the previous Indian Masala 'RAW AGENT' Twerking on a dance number in the middle of a covert op garbage but even then Pathaan is not better than Siddharth Anand's previous attempts at filmmaking.

If like me, you enjoyed the Bourne series, Skyfall, Ghost Protocol, Zero Dark Thirty, Sicario or even some decent Indian projects like Baby, Naam Shabana and Airlift then stay away from this. It's Brain cancer.

Tees Maar Khan returns qualitywise
sudipregmi26 January 2023
What happened to Siddhartha Anand or secretly this movie is also directed by Farah Khan? Went to watch it with friends as hype was too big. Every next minute teasers, and songs were on TV. Story is same overdone time and again, some villains create a deadly virus, and now hero has to save the world. Comically world is saved by chocolaty hero and heroin who appear self obsessed, and singing through the way they finally saved the world. How do repeatedly similar movies keep on coming? Can nobody come up with suitable stories for the cast they are coming up with? Even if they couldn't come up with something original, a revenge story like Taken would have better suited for Mr. Khan (but his overacting should still be toned down).
