Pink Ribbons, Inc is out on DVD and I.m disappointed, they didn.t include a quote from my review on their packaging. .All the Debbie Downerism seems unnecessary. would have looked great above the stack of money wrapped in that ubiquitous pink ribbon. In my initial review of Pink Ribbons, Inc (read it Here) last Spring, I gave it 2 ½ stars, claiming it was well-made and a healthy debate, but I also called out its transparent attempt to portray the Susan G. Komen foundation.s raising of funds for the worthy cause of breast cancer into something ugly and crooked. My take didn.t sit well with a certain angry type and in the review.s comments section I was called a .propaganda machine. and was even accused of being paid off by Komen. A slanderous charge! I would never take a bribe to slant my review from a non-profit (corporate bribes are another story!

We have a new winner for number one! The Green Hornet! The Green Hornet drove The Black Beauty straight to the top with a whopping $33,526,876 in 3,584 theaters with the second highest per theater average of $9,355 in the first week of release from Sony. (And you will never guess which film had the highest, but you will find out.) The Green Hornet threw True Grit off the number one saddle and moved it to number three. Universal.s release of The Dilemma drove right into the number two slot putting Little Fockers into the corner in number six. Last week.s number three, Season Of The Witch, flew down to number ten in the short lived top three position. Tron:legacy is still hanging on to it.s light cycle at the number seven slot after being out for five weeks now. Films that fell out of the top ten are Tangled and Country Strong.

At its best, a documentary weaves a story so compelling that you fall into it long before you learn the narrative’s agenda. At its worst, a doc is a dull slog of information didactically presented without pizzazz. Werner Boote’s Plastic Planet is the latter as it contains a winding and inarticulate tale with an overt agenda that is announced in the film’s opening narration. This passion project aims to reveal the dark side of that unavoidable element of modern life: plastic. While Boote’s ambition to root out the possible downside to this wondrous manmade material is admirable, his journey is disjointed and uneven, full of gimmicks that fail to entice and facts that lack much needed context.
After years of adoring the plastic products his manufacturing grandfather brought home, Boote is seeking answers about this omnipresent product’s dark side. What prompted this turnaround? No idea.

Below is an interview with "Plastic Planet" director and writer Werner Boote. The film hits select theaters this Friday, January 14. We live in the Age of Plastic. It’s cheap and practical, and it’s everywhere – even in our blood. But is it a danger to us? This feisty, informative documentary takes us on a journey around the globe - from the Moroccan Sahara to the middle of the Pacific ...
