I was 12 years old in 1968. One of my favorite places was the library, in those days the closest library to us was the Tesson Ferry Branch in South St. Louis County. My most prized possession was my library card.
My Mother used to drop me off there on a Saturday or a summer weekday and I would spend the whole day reading. One of those days I pulled a book off the shelf called Hitchcock/Truffaut and sat down to read it. I knew who Alfred Hitchcock was from his television show, and from his monthly Mystery Magazine as well as anthologies that I was reading avidly, Tales That Frightened Even Me, More Tales for the Nervous and, my favorite, Stories to be Read After Dark.
I was aware that Alfred Hitchcock was most renowned for directing movies. I had seen a few on television, Saboteur was a mainstay on Kplr TV,...

The Voice Season 10 finale kicked off on a note stranger than Justin Bieber attempting to cover Aretha Franklin.
RelatedThe Voice Season 10 Performance Finale Recap: Girl, You’ll Be a Winner Soon?
Country quartet Little Big Town opened the two-hour telecast with a Gospel-tinged jam produced by pop-r&B mastermind Pharrell Williams. CeeLo Green and finalist Hannah Huston recreated “Crazy” — with backing from a mariachi band. There was an entire segment devoted to Christina Aguilera’s love of Snapchat. (Shouldn’t advertorial segments be labeled accordingly?) And wackier still, over the course of 120 minutes, nobody made any mention of fallen standouts Tamar Davis,...

While Rihanna was nursing a broken heart, Karrueche was busy rubbing her relationship with Chris in Rihanna's face! Rihanna had plenty of reasons to celebrate this weekend, but that didn't keep her from tweeting out more sad song lyrics. On Mar. 17, RiRi was with family at her grandmother's birthday. Throughout the party, she tweeted out pictures with her grandparents where she's laughing and smiling — but she appears to really be masking some heartache? In the middle of the party, Rihanna wrote, "Dry cry, even tears...even my heart cries, but who cares?! Whose fault? No one, but myself!" Moments later, she added, "Wordz can't explain!" These are lyrics from Sizzla's "Just One of Those Days," a song about a couple against whom the odds are stacked. We're thinking that being around all of her loved ones reminded Rihanna that she can't share this happy occasion with the man she loves,...

I love British television but there are some days I wished I was actually in the UK to watch it. One of those days is this upcoming New Year’s Day when the second season of Sherlock. Co-Creator and head writer, Steven Moffat tweeted today: “Sherlock returns, Sunday, Jan 1st, 8.10pm, BBC1. First the woman, then the Hound and then, of course, the fall…” What he’s referring to are the three titles of each 90-minute films: A Scandal in Belgravia, The Hounds of Baskerville and The Reichenbach Fall. A Scandal in Belgravia is described as follows: Compromising photographs and a case of blackmail threaten the very heart of the British establishment, but for Sherlock and John the game is on in more ways than one as they find themselves battling international terrorism, rogue CIA agents, and a secret conspiracy involving the British government. But this case will cast a...

It's a beautiful Sunday today... One of those days when it’s pouring outside, I’m under the comforters and I know I can stay here till I am beckoned by the smell of the brewing coffee. Ever since I was a kid there has been something magical about Sundays. It’s a day that has a unique aura and vibe of its own. Sometimes when I’m shooting I lose track of the days of the week and go by dates instead. Even then when a Sunday sneaks up on you, you just know the feeling. I work on a lot of Sundays ...

Emily Osment is more than just a Disney face. As Lilly Truscott, Hannah's gal pal on the mega hit franchise Hannah Montana (TV), she's made a name for herself. Now, she's making a song or two for herself, and taking them out on tour. Ms. Osment is moving all the way up, and staging a breakout... Her recent show at the House of Blues in Chicago gave fans an inside peek at a talented singer/songwriter who has some relevant things to say in a fresh, bold, and sassy kind of way. This was Emily's second show of the "Clap Your Hands" tour, which included several of her new songs, and some older faves off her debut CD "All The Right Wrongs." Dressed in a playful baby-doll blouse and skinny jeans, the eighteen year old blond with fairy dust in her hair came out rocking. Her lively and upbeat opening...
