Review and opinion
This is a truly magnificent documentary... It should definitely be put alongside "Choke(Rickson Gracie)", "The Smashing Machine(Mark Kerr)", "Kick Fighters(K-1 MAX)", "Day of the Zen(Mario Sperry)", "Force of the Spirit(Jean-Jacques Machado)", and "Fight Day(Renzo Gracie)".
The documentary follows the times of Renzo Gracie in his MMA career to illustrate how a true warrior looks like.
I have to say that I did not know that Renzo was this brave or this courageous, and I did not see him as a big influence or prospect in the sport, and so I did not have as much respect for him as after I saw this documentary. I never lessened his rank or talked bad about him before watching the film, but after watching the documentary, I now recognize him and have much respect and admiration for Renzo Gracie as a person and Renzo Gracie as a fighter.
Renzo is a person who TRULY enjoys the sport of MMA and the sport of fighting, and this is why I recognize him very well now, and I can, with ease, refer to him as a person who has "Bushido"(The Warrior Spirit or Samurai Spirit).
I mostly enjoy these documentaries because they give a lot of backstage footage of the fighters before and after the fight, and between fights, and this documentary gave A LOT of that, and that is a big reason why I will be watching this numerous times in the future for enjoyment, motivation, and inspiration.
Renzo is also a comedic-character as I can see now, and as you watch the film, sometimes you will either forget that this is a documentary about fighting, and other times forget that this guy is really a fighter.
Renzo has the greatest and craziest stories all through this documentary that you will enjoy starting from the first sentence till the last breath from his mouth.
Also, I suggest buying the FULL DVD since it has a lot of extras that are very much worth watching also.
I TRULY wish that this was a 30-hour long documentary, and I wouldn't mind that, so to show how much I enjoyed it, and better yet, I would wish that it was never-ending...
It was truly a pleasure to watch this guy in and out of action.. So believe me when I say you'd be amazed at how much you'll enjoy, learn, laugh, smile, and frown at the numerous scenes and stories in this documentary. Believe me, MMA fan or not, don't miss this!!
