With the announcement of the new NBC show "Grimm" came a lot of questions. Would this be a horror show? Would it be a comedy? Would it be worthy of us covering it at all? We're starting to lean toward the "no" side of the fence.
According to Bloody Disgusting Marc Buckland will be directing the pilot episode that begins lensing this March in Portland. Given that Bucland has directed episodes of various sitcoms from "Scrubs" to "My Name is Earl," it's a pretty safe assumption that "Grimm" will be falling directly into the comedy category.
So for those keeping track ... with a comedy element added to the whole "dark but fantastical cop drama about a world in which characters inspired by Grimm’s Fairy Tales exist", it now sounds even more like Adam Green's "Fairy Tale Police".
More soon.

Episodic horror is turning the networks on lately with the success of shows like "The Walking Dead". Everyone is getting in on the horror act lately. It's about time the rest of the industry started playing catch up. Maybe soon they'll even give the genre some respect!
According to Entertainment Weekly NBC has picked up another pilot mixing fantasy with a crime drama: The network has greenlit "Grimm" from "Buffy" and "Angel" writers Jim Kouf and David Greenwalt.
The series is being described as a “dark but fantastical cop drama about a world in which characters inspired by Grimm’s Fairy Tales exist.”
Hmmm ... That's a really interesting and original idea. We've never seen anything like that before. Unless you count Adam Green's "Fairy Tale Police". More soon.

Hey, Victor Crowley fans, wanna dress up like your favorite deformed (albeit slightly tragic) killer this Halloween? Well, then we’ve got some good news for you!
ArieScope just relaunched its website and is now offering up some new merchandise for the diehards out there that includes a Hatchet Army t-shirt, a limited edition Victor Crowley statue, and one seriously kickass Crowley mask.
Another treat for any fan of Adam Green’s is that the site is now streaming all his famous Halloween short films in a high-quality format. If you haven’t checked out any of his shorts before, I recommend starting with The Tiffany Problem, which is epically hilarious.
In addition, you can also check out some of Green’s other work including "Fairy Tale Police", which he did for the Xbox 360 Horror Meets Comedy series and other Green goodies from his TV work.

Hatchet director Adam Green gave us an update on his new film, Frozen, on Fangoria Radio last Friday. A co-production with Saw executive producer/former Lionsgate chief Peter Block’s new A Bigger Boat company, Frozen will begin shooting in two months in frigid Utah.
“It’s a lot scarier than I thought,” Green said about his script for Frozen, which details the trauma of three people stuck on a ski lift during a snowstorm (see our last item here). “There’s a scene where wild animals show up and do some awful things…”
Green, whose short Fairy Tale Police debuts later this month as part of Xbox Live’s Horror Meets Comedy series, seemed less certain of active involvement in the mooted Hatchet 2. “Everyone wants to do it,” he said, “especially [distributor] Anchor Bay. I just have to find a way of squeezing it in with Frozen and a...

In keeping with the holiday spirit, this week's Wrap-Up is being delivered in verse a la The Twelve Days of Christmas. If anyone else wants to throw out some ideas for The Eight Nights of Chanukah or The Seven Days of Kwanzaa in the comments section below, feel free. And let's not forgot about the winter solstice. While some complain about it being the shortest day of the year, horror fans appreciate the other side of the coin -- the longest night. With so much to celebrate, let's get cooking!
From December 13-19, 2008,
My true love sent to me,
Twelve pairs of 3D glasses (the better to watch the new My Bloody Valentine 3D trailer),
Eleven needless remakes of foreign films hardly anyone's even seen yet (Danish thriller Mørke (Murk) is the most recent casualty of this craze),
Ten long months to wait before we finally get to see The Wolfman...
