We're getting there!

Please let the Bishop Torres romantic relationship continue to build. This has been such a slow burn.

The details of the cell phone service and how agents work were laughable though.

A good episode!
harrykivi17 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The 18th season has been fine so far. "1mm" is definitely good episode, but not great.

Let's start with the good aspects.

. The production values of the episode are great as usual. "1mm" is well-directed, the music fits the scenery and the acting's good.

. The story is compelling for the most part. There are moments of very good tension and the subplot about Mcgee had a sweet resolution. Do agree with a previous reviewer that Torres and Bishop have some good scenes here.

But....

. The dialogue is not always spot on and the humor can feel a bit off-putting at times. Still am not a huge fan of Torres and Bishop becoming a couple, the writers have not set their relationship up very well. There are some logical issues, which the previous reviewers have already mentioned. For instance: NCIS agents do not report to each other when they are tracking down a lead.

Overall, a good one.

7/10 HK.

Warning: Spoilers
Just like Tony and Ziva the show never seemed to give us as many scenes as fans wanted, but we got some good moments with Torres and Bishop here. Well-done episode that sold the danger of the cell in a good way.

Enough with Torres and Bishop
MsGeeke31 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
For once, I'd like to see them work out a plot device where male and female coworkers can just be good friends. There'd still be emotional intensity, but there wouldn't be the same story we've seen before on so many shows. We've seen it on this show enough times already. It's tired. Let's try something new. It's like teenagers are writing this stuff. You're audience isn't as young as you keep trying to make it. Now grow up and have the federal agents behave like adults. Stop trying to force a romance and tell a story!

Also, what's wrong with a text? Only need a second of connectivity and you could set the phone outside the window and let it keep trying. The signal was broken, not dead.

This whole episode was just silly.

Dreadful plotting in service of a plodding romance.
Rolly_Dodger27 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I heard there were new writers on board for this season. Apparently they just graduated middle school. Oh, plot holes, let me count the ways:

  • Apparently NCIS has no procedures requiring agents to report their destination or expected check-in times before embarking on dangerous investigations in remote locations.

  • Once a cell phone registers on a local tower, the strength of its signal is irrelevant. NCIS could have based their search on the location of the last tower both agents reached.

  • Text! TEXT! Everyone knows it's better to text. Text your sit rep and location, don't have broken up phone conversations reminiscent of early cell phone coverage ads.

  • When the agent's car is recovered on a rural road, Gibbs instructs local law enforcement to do nothing about searching for the missing agents.

  • Smugglers rig 1890's jail cells to close automatically... why? Just in case they drive investigators into them during a fire fight, maybe??? Oh, and bombs. There must be bombs.

This is just a short list of the plot holes used to get Bishop and Torres to rub up against each other.

Embarassing.

Hate Dungeon Episodes
vintagegeek27 January 2021
Slow monotonous episode with agents stuck in a dungeon again. No action, just soap opera this week.

Mumbo-Jumbo
faithless473421 March 2021
Most of the show is not about solving crimes. Most of the show is about stupid stuff and stuff that does not matter or in anyway involve solving a crime. When are these producers and writers going to figure out that the people do not want this garbage. We want Navy/Marines crime solving. Simple and plain.

Probably the worst NCIS episode
harryk100-390-44617027 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Really bad plot, pacing and everything. In an area of bad reception the agents try to call instead of texting their position. The building backup have problems getting to is an Old Sheriff House that is actually registered as a notable historical building in Harris County, that for some reason it does not appear in any maps. Amazing... Also field agents go after dangerous suspects and they tell know...If only there was a policy about notifying base with your whereabouts. Yes, this was aired in 2021...

Bromance & Romance but very little Navy
Johnny_West29 January 2021
So Torres and Bishop are looking for a cache of incredibly dangerous explosives. As they go check out the location where the bombs are hidden, they are non-stop chatter. Torres seems to be on NCIS to provide coolness tips, sort of like Navy version of Fonzie from Happy Days. As Torres and Bishop continue chattering about their office workers, they walk into gunfire, and run into a couple of prison cells. How dumb are they? The villains lock them into the cells, and leave.

Now Torres and Bishop can spend 42 minutes talking to each other, and warming up to some kind of romance. Meanwhile Gibbs is walking around looking for Torres and Bishop, and everyone is telling him to apologize to McGee for shooting him. So we get romance and bromance in this episode, as Gibbs keeps dropping by on McGee for various reasons, and they finally have their heart to heart talk. Gibbs the kind and loving grandfatherly figure is nice to see, but if I wanted to watch Mr. Rogers, Tom Hanks has it covered.

What happened to investigating Navy related crimes on Naval ships, Navy boatyards, Navy bases? This might as well be Magnum PI or Hawaii 5-0, as the NCIS crew gets on any Navy ship about once per season or less.

At least gesture at being realistic
wwkirk28 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I don't love dungeon episodes, but that's not my main complaint. There was a relatively brief shootout in which each agent agent expended between maybe 7-10 rounds out of the 13 their service pistols hold. Bishop says she has two rounds left, while Torres has only one. Fine. That's not unbelievable. But what is unbelievable is that they would not each be carrying an extra magazine.

I suppose the writers thought being almost out of ammo would help amplify drama, but doing so at the expense of realism has a net negative impact.

Another ridiculous story element is to have a registered historical site not appearing on maps.

There are other problems, but I won't go on.

Dreadfully dull and forced
d-robold31 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
What happened to NCIS? Where are the Navy stories? And heaven save us from the forced romance of the two youngsters. Ugh. This episode may rank as the worst ever. No one followed procedures, seemed even remotely competent, and the story (what there was of it) was flat and fairly uninteresting. Gibbs needs to be more like the old Gibbs. He was terrific field agent before NCIS yet we see him unable to even call Kasey? Seriously?

What Happened to NCIS?
buddybradley-2266512 February 2021
Every year there's one episode where the main plot lines don't seem real. Usually it involves the characters living outside the normal constraints of time and space by traveling great distances in very little time. This year every episode is filled with unrealistic, implausible and unexplained circumstances. Its a little worse every week. The purpose seems to be to create some exaggerated melodrama for the middle school audience to watch while they do their homework. Maybe the writers were replaced by those monkeys with typewriters from the proverb. With modern word processing and spell checking they could come up with these episodes pretty quickly.

Here we go with more stupid soap-opera again
koohii18 April 2023
Gibbs & McGee freaking out about how close Gibbs came to killing him--based on McGee being stupid about not dodging or hiding from incoming fire in the previous episode--Hard Skip.

A romance between Bishop and Torres--Utterly stupid. The best part about Bishop when she joined the show was that she was married and could put Tony and McGee in their place whenever they were hung up on some notion of sex like a couple of dumb-ass emotionally stunted teenagers. Torres was a loner. We absolutely 100% do NOT NEED or Want a new romance between these two. For one thing, it is insanely unprofessional, not to mention a violation of tons of personnel regulations, and they should know better. Yes, they can care about each other, but as Friends and Colleagues. You know, like professionals. Something these soap-opera writers can't seem to understand.

Annoying convo
apd810 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Every single conversation in this episode was really annoying. In the life-threatening situation, they as in Nick and Bishop still joked or argued or did stupid things (what the fark?) when they were trapped in separate jail cella. And when they needed to communicate like when Bishop found the stashed bomb or when Nick saw the truck arrived, they bit their tongues tight and made an uncomfortable, unrealistic, unreasonable dead air for a few seconds too long. And when the bad guy came asking how he could trust them, they dropped the gun. That's really hilarious.

The lab tech Kasie then "oh we care about ethics" really? When the NCIS car was found and the two agents who had driven it were missing and you talked about ethics!? Really? Then kept babbling about the steps that she took to find the destination.
