Sylvester Stallone is set to star in Escape Plan 2 - although it's unclear as of yet if Arnold Schwarzenegger will return too...
A small but significant update here. Escape Plan 2 is very much a live project, it seems.
Sylvester Stallone is set to shoot the film later this year. And now it has its director in place. Mikael Hafstrom, who helmed the first movie, won’t be back for this one. In his place will be Steven C Miller. Miller has recently directed a trio of Bruce Willis features – Extraction, Marauders and First Kill, and was also behind the camera for the recent Nicolas Cage-John Cusack flick, Arsenal.
It’s still unclear whether Arnold Schwarzenegger will be reprising his role in the follow-up. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more…

Steven Spielberg is quite often the first name that springs to mind when somebody mentions the word Hollywood, as the man is responsible for some of the most ground-breaking and truly memorable movie moments since the birth of celluloid. With that in mind, here at We Got This Covered we were very pleased to get wind of the fact that a box set dedicated to the director’s immeasurable impact on cinema is set to be released on Blu-Ray. Quite frankly, we couldn’t be more excited.
Why, you ask? Well, when you think of Spielberg, what films do you think of? E.T? Jaws? Jurassic Park? The list goes on and on for the three time Academy award-winning director – so much, in fact, that you could probably fill plenty more box-sets with the man’s work. But that is not the reason we’ve gotten a little giddy. No,...

Pre-production work continued on the next movie in the Jurassic Park franchise, Jurassic World, co-written by Derek Connolly, Amanda Silver, Rick Jaffa as well as director Colin Trevorrow. Fans of the dinosaur adventures based on characters from Michael Crichton’s novel grew worried about whether producers Amblin Entertainment, Legendary Pictures and Universal Pictures were attempting a reboot of Steven Spielberg’s classic 1993 adventure.

Some of the Star Wars: Episode VII team have apparently asked for a delay to 2016. Disney is refusing to budge, says a new report.
Since Disney bought Lucasfilm up, and announced that Star Wars: Episode VII was on the agenda for 2015, it's firmly played a game of playing its cards close to its chest. As such, whilst it's formally released news that Jj Abrams is directing the film, and that Michael Arndt isn't writing it anymore (Abrams is teaming up with Lawrence Kasdan on the script), it's not really said anything else that it hasn't needed to.
That hasn't stopped an abundance of rumours swirling around, from the likes of which old cast members are returning, whether Benedict Cumberbatch has signed on the dotted line or not, or when in 2015 the film's actually going to be released. Disney hasn't commented officially on any of them.

Chicago – Few films from the first half of the ’90s have held up as well as Steven Spielberg’s “Jurassic Park,” recently released in a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack that includes the 3D version of the film. How Huge is “Jurassic Park”? Adjusted for inflation, it’s made $728 million domestically, 16th all-time and sandwiched between two “Star Wars” movies (“Jedi” and “Phantom”). Everyone talks about Indy. The dinos have actually made more.
Rating: 4.5/5.0
Why? Because “Jurassic Park” is more than mere CGI trickery. Critics often lament the lack of character development in favor of CGI dinosaurs and many point to Spielberg’s ascendance as a filmmaker when making those claims but “Jp” works because of Spielberg never lets the Raptors and Rex completely outshine the cast. Led by Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum, the characters aren’t mere victims as they would be in the hands of lesser filmmakers.

Sequels are awesome, plain and simple. Returning to familiar characters and worlds we love is like covering yourself with a warm blanket, although when a sequel is bad it can be like a blanket covered in potato bugs and lice. Studios love sequels because seven times out of ten they open huge, no matter how good they are.

One of the most fun films of the summer, Captain America: The First Avenger, is coming home on Blu-Ray and DVD today. Also joining Cap is the new Winnie the Pooh feature that is utterly darling, Cameron Crowe celebrates Pearl Jam with Pearl Jam 20 and the Jurassic Park trilogy gets the Blu-Ray treatment.
Captain America: The First Avenger: Chris Evans makes his superhero debut in the wildly successful Captain America: The First Avenger. This origins story knocked our socks off when it hit theaters this past summer. Set in World War II, Evans is Steve Rogers, a scrawny young adult who yearns for nothing more than to defend his country. When Stanley Tucci’s scientist enlists him in a super soldier test program, he becomes the American hero of his dreams. Extras abound on this DVD and Blu-Ray including sneak peeks into the world of the upcoming The Avengers.

Universal Studios have give us this fantastic exclusive featurette to coincide with the Blu-ray release of the greatest dinosaur movie ever made, Jurassic Park. The Blu-ray is released in the UK 24th October. Jurassic Park for me is an all-time classic and I love everything about it. It was ground-breaking on so many levels and I’m so pleased it’s making its way to Blu-ray packed to the rafters with special features (all of which are listed below).
One of those special features is this featurette focusing on the music in Jurassic Park with the title ‘A Whole New Level’. John Williams provides the score for the film and in the featurette, all the sound effects have been stripped to let you see simply the score that plays during a few select scenes. First off, I have to tell you that this page may load slow. We're making an awful lot of calls to the Amazon Api here, and that's bound to monkey with things. If you have no idea what that means... it's shiny. Please note also that, for the same reason, you may find, depending on traffic, that not all of the Amazon details will load properly. I apologize for that, it's just the nature of the beast, and the fact that the Api wasn't really meant for such things. If you refresh, it will probably fix.
You may have heard me mention this giveaway quite a while ago, and it's taken me a long time to figure out what sort of format to put things in, and I kept added things. Eventually it became too much to really give any kind of run down on the items, so I decided...

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced that the Jurassic Park Ultimate Trilogy and Limited Edition Blu-ray set will hit the street on October 25th 2011! We also have all of the information on the specs and details that will be included in the Blu-ray set. It looks like theres a ton of cool stuff for us to check out. I enjoyed watching these films, the first is obviously the best, but I also liked the two sequels that were made as well, even though they weren't as good. I'l definitley be picking up a set for myself.

We’ve just received confirmation of the official date for the Blu-ray debut of the Jurassic Park trilogy – October the 24th, 2011.
Details have also emerged about the comprehensive extras on the disc including the all new six part documentary Return to Jurassic Park, which is sure to be the main draw for fans of the series, other than the chance to see the films in shiny high definition.
The other extras are all listed below and it’s an extremely detailed look at the trilogy which, shockingly, is almost twenty years old and set a new standard for visual effects all those years ago. Looking back at the DVD releases recently the effects still stand up very well, and Spielberg’s handling of the creatures in the first film in particular is flawless.

An empty wallet should never hinder a dream.
It can often be seen as an insurmountable obstacle in the slow and steady course of filmmaking. No matter the form, function or intended future of your film, your budget can seemingly make or break your dream of a completed film. Be it above or below the line cost, a budget can spiral out of control in a heartbeat, leaving you palms up with a half finished set and a camera with no film, wondering what just happened. The budget giveth and the budget taketh away.
This is where a transfer of power becomes necessary and learning how to is accomplish this feat is a skill essential to any burgeoning filmmaker. What I like most about the annual Black List is that there isn't any favoritism according to the projected financial size of a screenplay. For fun, you could scan down any list since its inception and you'll find equal parts indie/Sundace/small budget and studio/multiplex/limitless budgets. If you look at the price tag for 2007's top screenplay (Recount) and say picks #14 and #15 which have a budget that range somewhere between 50 to 100 times more. Here are updates on picks 15 to 11 of 2007. 15. Edwin A. Salt (Votes: 11) Writer: Kurt Wimmer Status: Released July 23, 2010. An already established writer, I'm sure Kurt Wimmer was somewhat surprised that he'd have to re-tailor his original screenplay to switch the gender of the lead role. Columbia Pictures coined the new version Salt, and had Phillip Noyce direct Angelina Jolie, who took on the newly named character of Evelyn Salt. Released July 23rd this year, the...

Following rumors from last November, The Hollywood Reporter posts that Sam Worthington will star in The Fields (previously called The Texas Killing Fields). Ami Canaan Mann -- daughter of Michael -- will direct Don Ferrarone's script, which is based on a true story. Worthington will play a "Texas homicide detective who joins with a New York detective to investigate unsolved murders in the Texas bayous." Pre-production has begun on the project, but the Manhattan law is yet to be cast.
With this latest confirmation, it's clear that all of those Worthington rumors aren't just blank, rumor-mill hype whipped up because of Avatar. His name has been batted about for Mad Max 4, he's said to be attached to American Crime, there have been questions about playing savior of the universe Flash Gordon, and maybe even Dracula.

Steven Spielberg has found his next directing gig. The Oscar winning filmmaker will next helm a contemporary adaptation of Mary Chase's play Harvey. Spielberg’s last film was Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. He’s currently in post-production on The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn. Harvey, which centers on a man and his friendship with an invisible six-foot tall rabbit, was first adapted for the screen in 1950 with James Stewart in the starring role as Elwood P. Dowd. It was later adapted into a TV movie starring Harry Anderson and Leslie Nielsen. Novelist Jonathan Tropper has written the adaptation for the new version. Tropper is the author of The Book of Joe, Everything Changes, Plan B, How to Talk to a Widower, and his newest book, This is Where I Leave You, which will be published this month. Harvey will mark his first screenplay.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Steven Spielberg's next film project will be a contemporary adaptation of Mary Chase's play "Harvey", about a man and his friendship with an invisible six-foot tall rabbit.
"Harvey" was first adapted for the screen in 1950 with James Stewart in the starring role as Elwood P. Dowd. Novelist Jonathan Tropper has written the adaptation for the new version.
No casting is in place yet, but many believe that Tom Hanks will almost inevitably be mentioned as one candidate given that he's often considered a modern-day Jimmy Stewart and has worked with Spielberg on such films as The Terminal, Catch Me If You Can and Saving Private Ryan. In fact, he's the only actor that springs to mind for Harvey.
Pre-production is to begin immediately, with filming set to start after the first of the year as a joint venture between DreamWorks and Fox.

According to Sci-Fi Wire, George Lucas is going into pre-production on his proposed live-action "Star Wars" TV series, which is set to be filmed in Australia. The site added that the yet-to-be-titled show is currently assembling high-quality writers from the country's TV industry. The goal is to find a distributor and have it debut sometime next year. The series will reportedly be set between the eras of "Star Wars: Episode III . Revenge of the Sith" and "Star Wars: Episode IV . A New Hope" and will not feature any major characters from the films.

Remember the time when rumors that a live-action Star Wars television series was in pre-production would have ignited swirls of fan frenzy? How things have changed. Now SciFiWire's report that writers are being assembled down under is just another line item in a crowded RSS feed. The show has long had a planned start date of late '09, so this report goes along with what we've already known. Assuming we do see a Star Wars series premiering next year, what will it actually be? Goerge Lucas, who will be relatively hands-off as an Executive Producer, has said several times that the show would run at least 100 episodes, and at one point there was word that could be upped to 400. He has described the show as "Deadwood meets The Sopranos in space" and repeatedly claimed that no major characters from the films would be integral parts of the storyline, but ...

When I first saw this I thought "oh snap, George Lucas got to Richard Elfman! This sucks!" then I watched the footage.. and it isn't bad, in fact it's pretty damn awesome. It brings a whole new spin to one of my top ten favorite films of all time. For those not familiar with this gem, you know those times when you're alone and you do weird things or make weird noises to amuse yourself? This Entire Film Is Like That! Even better, Richard's brother Danny Elfman (yeah that Danny) scored the entire thing and even plays Satan.. it's brilliant to say the least. Part comedy, part fantasy, and heavy on the musical it's like nothing you'll ever see. Here's a synopsis:
In an absurd, cartoony world, a dufus family’s basement leads to the Sixth Dimension. Beautiful young “Frenchy” (Marie-Pascale Elfman) doesn’t heed her father’s admonishment and...
