The Palmashow team spent years looking for their next project after making Max & Leon (2016), but couldn't find anything interesting, which really bummed them out, until Jonathan Barré dug up the story of an American which would memorize the prices of household appliances. Everyone loved that idea, and they wrote the whole script in a few months.
Unlike the previous Palmashow movie, Max & Leon (2016), which was loaded with guests, the three writers decided to cast unknowns outside of the two main roles.
The movie was shot in Les Bréviaires near Paris, and in La Rochelle on the Atlantic coast.
The movie was supposed to be released in April 2021, but was postponed to the February 16 2022 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, when some movies began to be postponed again, clearing up the release schedule, Superwho? (2021) moved up its release date from February 9 to February 2, so Les vedettes (2022) moved up one week as well from February 16 to February 9.
