Ouch...ladies please retract those claws!

Apparently, the idea of "All About Eve" was inspired by a book--a book about two real life actresses who lived a life much like Eve and Margo Channing. Elizabeth Bergner and Martina Lawrence were the models for these two characters and the film explores the differences and similarities between them and the movie.

This is a very interesting but cringe-worthy special feature on the companion disc for "All About Eve". I say cringe-worthy because it really becomes painful late in the film when they discuss and play actual footage from a meeting done in recent years between the two 'ladies' discussed in this film. But watch out--like a real cat fight, it's not a pretty sight! Ouch!

Warning: Spoilers
. . . as the Real Life template for the Witchy, Back-Stabbing "Eve" of ALL ABOUT EVE, reveals this extra (THE REAL EVE) included on Fox's 2008 DVD for that feature. One-time Broadway Theater groupie Mary Orr blows the whistle on the perfidious Martina, Sand-bagging the latter crone more than half a century after the fact at Sardi's in New York City, with the help of Great White Way Fanboy Harry Haun. This taped audio exchange between these two geriatric Never-Wuzzes is hilarious. As 1900s wit Gloria Stein once observed, "A butch is a butch is a butch" (only with a different vowel in the B-Word). Ironically, the Fox DVD extra division apparently operates in a complete vacuum hermetically sealed off from the Real World, so no reference is made here as to how their classic feature ALL ABOUT EVE perfectly foreshadows the Bill O'Reilly brouhaha which must have been approaching a fever pitch at Fox "News" even by the time that this piece was being assembled. Hopefully, we'll all soon be able to enjoy a similar piece titled THE REAL BILL.
