The vision for the ninth annual Platino Awards is coming into focus with the announcement of the night’s musical performers.
Ana Guerra, Ana Mena, Ángela Aguilar, David Bisbal, Diana Hoyos, Gerónimo Rauch, Májida Issa, Mariaca Semprún and Monsieur Periné are set to take the stage at the Gran Tlacho theater at Xcaret Park in Riviera Maya on April 20.
Per intel from event organizers, the ceremony will feature original compositions for the occasion like one performed by Hoyos and Rauch to a score by composer Lucas Vidal. The roster of talent is meant to spotlight the richness of Ibero-American stars and music. UFC champ Michael Bisping has jumped on board Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, where he will star opposite fellow returning actors Gerard Butler and O’Shea Jackson Jr.
Bisping will reprise his role as Connor in the sequel after also doing a star turn in Millennium’s upcoming Red Sonja movie. His other credits include xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, Twin Peaks, Warrior, Never Back Down: Revolt and Triple Threat.
Bisping can also be seen in the documentary feature Bisping for Universal, and he also does UFC onscreen color commentating and has expanded into unscripted series like the competition series Hyperdrive for Netflix.

Exclusive: UK distributor and producer Signature Entertainment has appointed Ben Jacques to the newly created role of Head Of UK Production.
Jacques most recently produced Scott Adkins action movies One Shot and Accident Man 2, which is in post-production.
Reporting to Signature CEO and founder Marc Goldberg, Jacques will be responsible for developing and delivering the company’s slate of UK productions. He previously teamed up with the company on 2017 crime pic The Hatton Garden Job and the aforementioned One Shot, which also starred Ashley Greene and Ryan Philippe. After Kellie Madison released the proof of concept short The Gate, the high octane film became a viral sensation with 4 million views and it got her the job directing Never Back Down: Revolt, a low budget action film back by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment that got released recently.
With that film under her belt, Madison is hoping to make the leap to direct the feature version of the short that put her on the map. Briarcliff Entertainment’s Tom Ortenberg is taking the concept out to financiers. Exclusive: Kellie Madison (Never Back Down: Revolt) has signed on to direct a supernatural action thriller, centered on a geothermic explosion inside the ruins of Pompeii, for Pressman Film.
The script for the as-yet untitled feature will be penned by Kalen Egan and Travis Sentell (Electric Dreams). Edward R. Pressman and Kelly McKee of Pressman Film are on board to produce along with veteran Korean producer Lewis Taewan Kim. Korean VFX company Westworld will co-produce, with Jihyun Kim (Train to Busan) leading creature design and concept artwork.
“I’ve been a fan of Pressman Film since the original Bad Lieutenant. I’m so excited to be collaborating with them to create something really special and unique,” said Madison. “The type of hybrid production team we are putting together has never been done before.

The FX series adaptation of the James Clavell novel “Shōgun” has rounded out its main cast.
Anna Sawai has been cast in the lead role of Lady Mariko, joining previously announced leads Cosmo Jarvis and Hiroyuki Sanada. In addition, the ensemble cast will now also include: Tadanobu Asano, Fumi Nikaido, Tokuma Nishioka, Takehiro Hira, Ako, Shinnosuke Abe, Yasunari Takeshima, Hiroto Kanai, Toshi Toda, Hiro Kanagawa, Nestor Carbonell, Yuki Kura, Tommy Bastow, Moeka Hoshi, Yoriko Doguchi and Yuka Kouri.
Furthermore, Jonathan van Tulleken has come aboard to direct the first two episodes with production now underway in Vancouver. The show has received a 10-episode order at FX.
