General Leslie Groves had a hunch that Robert Oppenheimer is a man who could compromise and can deliver.

Some of the scientists in his team might be clever. The likes of Seth Neddermeyer, a Nobel prize winner, do not realise that they are in a race against time. His ideas of implosion technique is far from perfect.

The volatile Edward Teller acts less like a team player. He has an idea of developing a bomb that is deadlier. Instead he is being used as some kind of research assistant.

Just as the Manhattan Project is coming together. The news emerges of the death of President Roosevelt, an important backer of the Manhattan Project.

The episode is all about Robert Oppenheimer. As Groves realises, he is a man who can deliver. Despite the various inter personnel classes and disputes with his wife Kitty. The marriage is unhappy as Kitty is always bored.

I liked the scene in a dinner party where Kitty's past relationships are broken down by another guest. She is destined to be unhappy as each new marriage never provides a long term solution to whatever she wants.
