Episode 5

The theory is left behind. Robert Oppenheimer has got his team together and it is all steam ahead for the testing.

There is a discussion as to whether to tell the Japanese that a nuclear bomb might be exploded on one of their cities. Oppenheimer believes that it could be a bad idea to tip off the Japanese.

There is still the matter of the testing. Tempers and nerves are high when it comes to constructing the bomb.

Bad weather delays the testing which irritates General Groves. He does not understand precisely what nuclear fallout means.

Budgetary requirements means that footage of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki are not shown. The aftermath is, which includes the damage inflicted on humans by way of actual archive footage.

While General Groves gloats in a self satisfied manner. Oppenheimer realises the scale of the damage done.

I did not expect the bombs to be detonated by the fifth episode. It means the rest of the series will deal with Oppenheimer and the aftermath of the nuclear bombs.
