Lucy enters Mooney in a "Boss of the Year" contest while Mooney secretly does the same for Mr. Cheever.
This is the last episode of THE LUCY SHOW because Ms. Ball must come up with a new format (HERE'S LUCY) in order to retain ownership of her own television product since she has sold Desilu to Paramount. As a finale, it is not outstanding and the way it ends tells us that Lucy and Mooney are going to be stuck with each other forever.
Jack Collins appears as Mooney's old college buddy and they share a rather long restaurant scene together. Collins would also have the distinction of appearing in the very last episode of HERE'S LUCY - so two historic appearances for him.
Funniest parts are when Mooney calls Mary Jane "Baby Jane"; Lucy's "butter" joke and her eyerolls when Mooney is sucking up to Cheever; and when Collins makes a crack about a former ugly classmate - who turns out to be Mooney's wife Irma.
Lucy appeared on the January 1968 issue of Lady's Circle magazine wearing the same dress she wears in the banquet scene, in which Gary Morton plays the emcee and Lucy sings the praises of Mooney with a medley of "76 Trombones/Thanks for the Memories".
