Still hopeful
billsoccer16 March 2021
Still watchable after this 3rd episode. I tend to not like series that have no end point, so I'm hopeful that the bits of info abut the debris they keep dripping out actually lead to something. In the meantime, it's entertaining, with nice sci-fi elements. Not paying too much to the complaints of other reviewers. The complaints about the lead actors - what's that about? Don't the actors meet their high standards? Ridiculous. The complaints about the small number of scientific staff is reasonable, but c'mon - not every series or episode can have a cast of thousands. The story is interesting thus far, let everything else go

Setting the scene for more

Thus episode is chock full of information you don't even know you want until much later. Very clear writing, not good science (honestly don't care!)

Composer killed it.

This gets another same rating as the last two episodes LITERALLY BECAUSE OF THIS ONE MOMENT about 3/4 of the way through...the score was outstanding.

Otherwise, another Fringe seeming episode where another weird thing has happened that has a LITTLE connection to the overall story, as always.

Can't wait to figure out more about what's going on. Also still extremely low budget.

This concepts explored made this the best episode so far. Warning: Spoilers
This episode has the atmosphere of the movie, "Arrival." What I found fascinating was the exploration of multiple dimensions. If they exist, why can we not see evidence of them. Theoretically, we cannot see them, because our senses are made only for a 4 dimensional world. This theory was first explored in depth in the 19th century piece of fiction named "Flatworld" by Edwin Abbott Abbott. Where the Debris comes into play is that they are implying that the beings that created and used the ship that became debris were inter-dimensional travelers. The ship traverses and the beings are in another dimension where time is slowed. That would mean that the vastness of space and the time needed to travel it becomes not a problem. I find that all very fascinating and I think the show explored it. This is the most fascinating episode so far. The concepts are very exciting to me. It also brings about the question, how did the ship get out in outer space if you can use the technology to traverse time and space on earth. Also, the episode implies that the technology would only work going forward in time, though it would seem like no time has passed or that decades have passed, depending upon your control. That is what the closing scene shows, that you can travel instantaneously. The implications are fascinating and it explains why the governments of the world want to unlock the technology of the "Debris." .

Ponderous!

Only three episodes in, and it's still all about soap drama and crying, only a few minutes on the spaceship debris.

Are we really going to accept that these two unqualified agents are more involved than what should be an army of scientists and engineers? Even the assembled pieces in the warehouse...no team studying it around the clock?! Just one guy playing with a chair...SMH

Also, it appears that all the debris has fallen on US turf? Nothing in water, although ~3/4 of Earth is water...

It also seems that the general public is completely oblivious to the debris, regardless of three years of watching it approach Earth, and all the weird events occurring thereafter related to the debris event...Give me a break!

This series is a fail

A disappointment
wildsheep-4961716 March 2021
I had high hopes for this series but after just 3 episodes it has devolved into soap operatic melodrama - short on science, long on emoting. The special effects are, in my opinion, dazzling for a network TV show and I thought that finally here was the new Fringe. And there's a built-in illogic to the show - see the other review, it's as though the public is unaware of all this magical stuff falling from the sky, only this small group of "scientists" - huh?

I'm done

I have been reviewing this title from the perspective of a Fringe fan, which may not be fair, but that is how I am. The secret to a good show is how we relate to the characters. Fringe was excellent at building that relationship. This show does not, for me at least. My ambivalence is is overwhelming. I feel nothing for them except that Justin Tucker is awful. The only thing that could be worse is if there were more than one of him. So...that's it for me. Debris just doesn't make it.

An ambivalent viewer for an ambivalent plot for the first 3 episodes.

It's interesting enough. And, I'll tag along for a bit longer to see where they're trying to go with this. Just taking too long to get to the point. Very somber and the background music is becoming more sarcastic then the ominous feel it's trying to feel.

Does anyone smile on this show? The characters all have issues. Fine. But, there has to be some good in these people that makes us want to care if someone figures out what's going on or if they all turn into green monsters.

Drab dreary soap opera with mumbo jumbo science
gareth-7544224 March 2021
I did not believe this show could get worse but I was sadly mistaken, these are just bad actors acting amateurish, the male lead has a constant confused look & the female alternates between snobbish & constipated, her & her voice is probably the worst part of the show, easily as annoying as the awful incidental music used to punctuate the drama, this show lacks any real interesting story & any likeable characters, the storyline & sub plats aren't complicated or complex they're simply badly scripted, none of the characters are believable or interesting, 3 episodes now where each "victim" is saved by the "power" of love, is this a "Christian movement" funded show? who writes such garbage? The investigaters literally investigate nothing, they merely stand around looking clueless, mumbo jumbo science to explain "theoretical" phenomenon, any space debris is going to be saturated in radiation of some kind yet one minute hazmat suits are worn other times not, this is just a bad show full of bad actors.
