Marion Barbeau is Première Danseuse from the famous Paris Opera Ballet company. It will be her first part as an actress.
Hofesh Shechter, dancer, choreograph and composer, plays his own role in the movie. Most of the music comes from his show "Political mother: The Choregrapher's Cut (2011)", and the choreography the dancers work on during the movie comes from this.
The opening sequence lasts 15 minutes and has basically no dialogue.
Director Cédric Klapisch met actor François Civil by accident during a vacation. Civil's haircut gave him the idea for a new age physical therapist, inspired by Brad Pitt's character in Burn After Reading (2008).
Cédric Klapisch originally wanted to write the script alone during the lockdown, but came up with a story too dense and complex. So he brought on frequent collaborator Santiago Amigorena, albeit reluctantly, as he didn't know much about dance. However, this ended up working very well, as he notably made the main character, Élise, an maternal orphan, and added the idea of Élise working in a residence for artists.
