As a psychology student I found parts of this movie hard to swallow (no pun intended). That being said I thoroughly enjoyed this documentary.
I found that many of the "experts" speaking out against psychopharmacological drugs seemed to take the stance that disorders such as ADHD and depression do not exist. Only one expert stated that he believes this disorders exist but that they are over diagnosed and over medicated for these disorders (and his point was downplayed in the movie). I think this point should have been emphasized more in the movie as it is a more realistic perspective.
That being said, I was blown away by the infiltration of the DSM and FDA by pharmaceutical companies. The sheer number of people who seem to be profiting from the sales of these drugs is astounding.
Overall this movie was excellent it brought up many great points and highlighted many issues that should be at the forefront of ones mind when deciding whether to take prescription medication. I wish they would have included some information on non drug therapies that have been proved effective for disorders such as ADHD and depression.
