The episode's title is based off the cyberpunk manga series "Ghost in the Shell" by Shirow Masamune.
Writer Benjamin Siemon posted on Twitter that in a deleted scene the young female pig that beat the younger Gandra Dee in the science fair (as seen in the hologram) would have been named Tammy Jenkins, the older sister of Dewey's rival Timmy Jenkins (who was previously seen in They Put a Moonlander on the Earth! (2020)).
