Sweet Episode
AnimatedCritic29 April 2021
This was a surprisingly heartwarming episode of The Simpsons. I liked how it tackled Bart's relationship to his teacher, who's actor died about 6 years ago. Some of the episode felt kind of repetitive, but overall it's a sweet episode of The Simpsons.

One of the best simpsons episodes in the modern years.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode truly felt like an Golden Age episode. Even though Homer and Marge only get 1 minute total of appearence all together. This episode feels very good without them and puts more focus on Bart and Lisa. Ned doesn't feel at all out of character, and actually helps Bart understand what Krapappel really meant in her journal, much better of how Ned helped bart in "Better off ned". The emotion in this episode feels really good and why Bart cries in 3rd act after finding out the potential was for her cat was very relatable to how people would react in real life if this situation happened to them. There is also no Sub-plot here, which was an good choice. A few cons though is that Mid-2nd act felt a bit rushed in pacing with Lisa getting bumps from guilt but it didn't affect the whole act in total, The reuse of Krabappels Lines in the 3rd act makes the scene where Ned and Edna family dissusion feel disapointing, and Lisa's involement in the episode felt a bit forced. The animation in this episode is also stellar, mostly in the beginning of the First Act. Great Job Simpsons Writers and directors. 7.5/10 rounded to an 8/10, Best in the season so far.

This is good after last week during the Daytona racing thing. But after 1 week has passed I had decided to review this episode, lets to say it was good. I am not going to spoil it since most of you haven't watched it yet. Keep up the great work Fox.

Very Mildly Funny

Giggled a little bit about Bart thinking Edna writing about her cat was her writing about him.

A fun way to make an Edna Krabapple episode without using her voice actor.

This is a great modern simpson episode and it is one that could fit into the golden age of the simpsons.

Touching Tribute to Marcia Wallace

Warning: Spoilers
Despite some of the episode's problems I put that all aside for the montage at the end of the episode showing Ms. Krabappel with Ned and Bart. Had me tearing it up and was a great sendoff after all these years. We miss you Ms. K. (:

A nice homage to Marcia Wallas' Mrs. K

Warning: Spoilers
It was good to see the less mischievous side of Bart, the episode had a small vibe of first seasons episodes with a more mundane family focused subject with silly gags.

This episode reminded us that across all 32+ seasons Bart is a kid in need of attention and affection who tries to find his place in his family. He has a loving mother who is sometimes focused on Maggy, he is Homer's unwanted child. We also know that he lives in the shadow of Lisa.

If the family can give him some attention sometimes, Mrs K was the adult he needed, a secondary parent that believed in him. When given the opportunity to leave we got reminded why she was a teacher and we learned that she would never give up. We know they were also often here for each other.

As a famous Springfiled said "A noble spirit embiggens the smallest man", and the episode showed that Edna was a noble spirit.

It is a nice homage to a nice homage to Marcia Wallas' Mrs. K.

Very moving episode

Warning: Spoilers
An incredibly moving episode of The Simpsons, which still shows the writers still have the ability to produce episodes that have an honorary rank alongside the golden era of the first 10 years.

Here this episode is a tribute to the loveable Edna Krabappel and Marcia Wallace (who voiced Edna), and we get more of an insight into why Edna wanted to remain in Springfield even though her then husband Flanders and their two kids wanted to move away. Very touching indeed, especially the final scene where Flanders reads a diary entry from Edna.

Anyway, Diary Queen (a play on Dairy Queen possibly) is worth watching.
