What an amazing film. The heart break of a child, seeking a way out, with an unwavering belief in magic to help her escape. The filming, imagery and music is breath taking. The last scene in the attic is haunting. Does she fly out the window? Does she jump? Looking forward to seeing what else this writer/director will do. The kids in this film are also really good. Avis makes me believe in the possibility of becoming a Blackbird! She is so totally wrapped up in the desire to fly away that she makes everyone else, including her side kick Benny, see it happen. The film is sad, but with believable laughs. Watch the little girls face when she is eating the birds seed! I wish it had been a bit longer. Again, looking forward to seeing this actress in other films.
