Sub-par even by run of the mill underground hood flick standards
Seth_Rogue_One27 December 2016
I've seen a lot of hood movies in my lifetime, don't know the exact number but I would guess at at least 200 of them. So I've build up a high tolerance level from flaws that these sort of no budget hood flicks usually come with, but even still with low expectations I was still let down.

Everything is just so amateurishly made, everything from the awful choices of filming angles to the sound to yeah even the acting, despite having a couple of famous names in the film (most of which aren't in it very much though mind you).

It only get slightly okay when Sticky Fingaz is in a scene because he is a charismatic actor by nature so even though his acting is far from his best in this one (more like the other way around to be honest) he still manages to control the scenes he's in and give it a little more flare than it would have had without him.

A lot of the other cast members have been good in other stuff but for some reason they are not very good at all here, I blame poor direction but the writing doesn't help.

And it's not even bad to the point it's funny bad either.

Overall rating a strong 3 or a weak 4, your pick.

'JUST ANOTHER DAY (2009)' also with Wood Harris (in a bigger role) wasn't amazing but it's great in comparisons with this so if Wood is the reason you want to watch this watch that instead. Or I mean the series 'THE WIRE' of course which is one of the best series of all time.

I don't know what the heck happened to Wood Harris career, seemed like he was gonna go places with him being brilliant in REMEMBER THE TITANS, PAID IN FULL and THE WIRE but ended up in the 1 dollar bin with movies like this.

Exactly like any one of two or three dozen similar films from the last couple of years only more forgettable

Warning: Spoilers
With a description on the DVD box that could fit any of 50 urban films about a group of black men in the city trying to get by, Its impossible to know what one is getting into before one pops in the disc. What one gets when the film actually starts is a film that is mediocrely done and as bland as the description on the box. It's the type of film that you could inter-cut into anyone of afore mentioned urban dramas and not even notice. Truthfully this film is so utterly unremarkable I'd suggest you take any film I've reviewed over the last two films of a similar nature and see it since odds are you'll remember it more than this pile of wasted celluloid. This film has nothing to make it stand out. Nothing. In all honesty it so nothing, that odds are I'm going to have a hard time remembering I ever saw this. Why did BET Entertainment release this when there are dozens of more interesting films. Maybe because it has stars. Utterly worthless.

Typical wannabe gangsta movie
Runekragh16 May 2010
Bad acting! Bad filming!! Bad storyline!!!

the main characters ruin this movie along with its wannabe gangsta storyline. only reason it get "two stars" was because wood harris.

the main characters appears to be actors with little experience, anypeople could play tough, the true great actors, GA, can generate different layers of personality changes, other than just being tough. EX. GA, while playing tough, you could like see fear in their eyes.. in this movie u only see tough, with dead eyes(not dead eyes as al pacino, but dead eyes which looks like their reading from a script..)

DON'T WATCH!!!!

Bad Critics
wild_gunz25 August 2009
For all of you bad critics.

I've been looking at the comments people make on movies such as "Dough Boys" and "Never Die Alone" and all I have to say to the bad critics is a few comments. Most of you who rate these movies based on it's cinematic beauty and character, never take the time to view it for what it was meant. These movies are all great in my book, one being because they are things that I have seen since I was 8 years old and still see today, so I can relate to them. Which is what they are, stories that are told for the enjoyment of people who can relate to them and to show those who cannot, the reality that these characters lived in relation to real life situations.

But since we have a lot of people who were born with silver spoons in their mouth trying to make their voices be the base of the percussion line, they can and will never see it that way. Every time they watch a movie their looking at the camera detail, the acting to be 10 stars, the story to be about white houses with picket fences and a happy ending under a rainbow, while we who relate to the story always think the movie was great because it speaks for us, it lets everyone who see's it know that these things do happen, regardless of it's budget and cinematography.

So to all you bad movie critics, My advice to you is to stop watching these movies that you cannot relate to, or just stop being a critic and just keep it to yourself.
